iowaherkeye (1413), relocated to Santa Rosa f/Iowa, California, USA Jun 2, 2008 22oz bottle, no date. Almost opaque deep brown with a one finger tan head, pretty decent retention. Roasted malts up front, with espresso (of course), with some chocolate chip cookies. do I get a hint of pine? The flavor, for the most part, loses its cookie sweetness. Roasted and scorched malts follow through to the finish, but not before semisweet chocolate and pine make a swift appearance. Ashy roasty finish with bitterness peaking around a 3. Soft creamy medium body with low pinpoint carbonation. Pretty good stout--glad I picked this up while in California.
AndrewKScott (409), Lemont, Illinois, USA Oct 11, 2008 Bomber from Jimbowood. Pours black with a big, fizzy tan head. Aroma of smoke, chocolate, coffee, dark fruits. Flavor is roasty and sour, chocolatey malt flavor and a dry finish. I’m impressed by this brew. ketchepillar (279), Des Moines, Iowa, USA Oct 3, 2008 Huge head. Lots of caramel. Has quite a sour fruity tang to it. Chocolate, coffee. Interesting beer, not sure if it’s intentionally tangy. hillfiiiiire (211), Atoka, Tennessee, USA Oct 3, 2008 Pours black body with a large tan head. Smoky, coffee aroma. Flavor is roasted malt sweetness and coffee. It’s quite dry with a thin body. Tolerable overall. crowderm (182), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA Oct 3, 2008 Black body huge tan head. Aroma malts, coffee, dark fruit. Flavor is sour roast, dark fruit, chocolate, and sweet malts. Decent mouthfeel. Pretty decent brew. Dorwart (1621), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA Oct 2, 2008 Thin sloppy head of varying sized bubbles. Kind of weak aroma with some roasted malts, coffee and some grains (not oats though). Color is a very dark brown. Mild roasty flavor with a touch of sourness and some sweet malts. Slick mouthfeel with a bit of dryness late swallow. Ehh, this is not doing it for me. An ok brew but not one that I would recommend to a fellow brew enthusiast.
