Craft Clerkenwell Bottle Share. Thanks to Dan. Hazy orange - amber beer, small cream colour head. Palate is softish and slightly viscous, mild fine carbonation. Nice malts - some creamy sweetness, somewhat thick and sticky. Hops are mild skunk, hop spice, mild tropical fruits, more hop spice. Touch of aniseed alcohol. Mild caramel. Smooth finish. A big chewy DIPA I was right in the mood for.

Bottle thanks to Dan. It pours murky burnt orange with a decent yellow-white head. The nose is sweet, sticky, oily, stewed orange, mango, apricot, peach, toast and earth. The taste is punchy bitterness upfront, sticky sweetness, mango, peach, resinous, pine, some hop astringency, chewy malt base and some alcohol boost through the finish. Medium - full body and moderate carbonation. A big old bitter-sweet, chewy old-skool double IPA. Mighty decent.

Bottle shared at CBC Clerkenwell as ’Moylans Hop Craic XXXXIPA Quadruple Ale’, 10.4%. Not dated. Green wax, celtic symbols. Just stopped short of leprechauns - must have thought better of it. Hazy dark orange, lightly sparkling, decent foamy off-white head. Aroma is dirty piney, boiled sweets and caramel. Body is medium, smooth, tingly carbonation. Taste is sweet toffee-ish malts, pine, flowers, tangy booze, spice, not overly bitter. It’s a malt-bomb but quite nice.

Bottle split at Clerko tasting, thanks to Danny, 10/09/15. Lightly hazed orange amber with a decent light beige cap. Nose is caramel malt, pine, earthy hop presence, melon, orange. Taste comprises candied fruits, pine needle, caramel malt, light spice, grapefruit, sweet licks, bready. Medium + bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with hop bitterness present. Ok DIPA in an old skool way.

650ml waxed top bottle pours a slightly hazy golden orange color with a 2 finger white head that leaves some decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is citrus and pine with some caramel and grainy notes. Taste is a pine and grapefruit hop bitterness with a light fruity and caramel malty sweetness. Medium bodied with decent carbonation. Alcohol is well hidden. A very nicely done brew that I recommend highly to others.

Quadruple IPA you say...

Well this is indeed a bitter bastard with an unholy amount of resin and a bullet of citrus between the eyes... Yet it actually has some semblance of balance with lots of barley and faint caramel. A bit peppery and at 10.4% ABV as slight bite but hardly offensive nor inappropriate. A sipper sure but I sort am digging this. Beats the crap outta some Tripel IPA’s I know of. This is also unlike those 3xIPA’s not a young barleywine but a real IPA that will likely not be any good once the hop oils breakdown.

Grapefruit and tropical. Super fruity aroma. White head. Fruits and tropical madness. Very bitter and hoppy. Not bad. Boozy

Bottle from Darby’s Liquor, Vancouver
No dating on the bottle. The cap is waxed, not difficult to remove, but I would gladly save 1$ and do without wax. It has a beautiful hazy golden color with medium sized head. The aroma is rich with undeniable hop quality, very piney, a bit citrusy and skunky, a hint of cedar wood. Lean body, moderately sweet, hence highly drinkable, also because the alcohol is just a warning feeling; perfect malt canvas, lightly biscuity, and then the hopping appears with piney resins and sweet orange peel, moderately fruity too. Long pleasant final.
Excellent beer, but too expensive.
