Tap. Fluted glass at Mackenzies. Smell is subtle for an dipa, but some yeast funk. Light orange look, one finger white head. Very hoppy, but resin is too strong and too long lasting. Overpowers everything else. Not drinkable enough. I expected better.

UPDATED: JAN 18, 2014 A pretty hoppy IPA, but definitely a good one. A little one dimensional but it?s very good.

For some reason this was the priciest thing at MacGregor’s. Out of Bob’s price range, for 11 oz, $11, more for me, I went for the 5.5. This was one well made beer and I am going to go out on a limb and say it was worth the price. Dark gold, very fruity, grapefruit and other citrus. Creamy mouthfeel, luscious, alcohol quite hidden, well integrated and complete beer.

Pours amber with a fading head. Nose shows big citrus fruit with orange marmalade and tangerine alongside soft pine and resinous hops. Also some clean malt and soft booze. Very aggressive flavours. Massive pine and grapefruit with just a little malt underneath. Very sharp bitterness in the finish mixing with the booze. Almost harsh. Nice moderate carbonation.

Medium level floral and piney hop aroma. Nice copper color with a moderate head. Good carbonation with a crispness that matched the bitterness. The hops were strong but needed to match the aroma a little better. Not to detract, this is still a great beer for imperial IPA lovers. Nice grain flavors helped to balance as well. Enjoyed it thoroughly.
