3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
For some reason this was the priciest thing at MacGregor’s. Out of Bob’s price range, for 11 oz, $11, more for me, I went for the 5.5. This was one well made beer and I am going to go out on a limb and say it was worth the price. Dark gold, very fruity, grapefruit and other citrus. Creamy mouthfeel, luscious, alcohol quite hidden, well integrated and complete beer.

Pours amber with a fading head. Nose shows big citrus fruit with orange marmalade and tangerine alongside soft pine and resinous hops. Also some clean malt and soft booze. Very aggressive flavours. Massive pine and grapefruit with just a little malt underneath. Very sharp bitterness in the finish mixing with the booze. Almost harsh. Nice moderate carbonation.

APPEARANCE: clear darker blond beer, nice stable off white head.
NOSE: hoppy, very dense, florar, little earthy, some alcohol, little sweet.
TASTE: alcoholic, bitter and dry aftertaste. Quite hoppy but dry. Dry-out effect.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Medium level floral and piney hop aroma. Nice copper color with a moderate head. Good carbonation with a crispness that matched the bitterness. The hops were strong but needed to match the aroma a little better. Not to detract, this is still a great beer for imperial IPA lovers. Nice grain flavors helped to balance as well. Enjoyed it thoroughly.

65cl, as Moylan’s Hopsickle Imperial Ale, American brew, from De Hopduvel Gent, complex bitter brew, fruity/bitter and slightly woody/floral, very balanced, hazy, rocky head, very good brew, yet expensive!

On draft. Aroma of caramel. Flavors of citrus hips, toffee malts. Nothing flashy but super-solid.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Hazy orange with a thin filmy head and a high amount of carbonation and good lacing. Strong grapefruits, oak, citrus and mild caramel in the nose. Flavor is quite piney and woodsy, with caramel, grapefruits and a bittersweet resiny aftertaste. Body is light and mild-to-moderate in carbonation. Pretty good!
