rkuhnel (1139), Eureka, California, USA Mar 7, 2006 Updated: Apr 24, 2007 22 oz bottle. Poured a hazy copper orange, with a moderate light tan head. Wonderful nose...hops at first,. but then your get the scent of pine,. citrus, and tropical fruit. Really great mouthfeel. While high in alcohol, it hides this well. For an DIPA fan this is heaven. I love this almost as much as the Moylander Double IPA,
Moosington (14), Costa Mesa, California, USA Oct 11, 2008 Bottle from Hollingshead. Pours a very rich, cloudy copper. Nose is sticky hop, caramel and grapefruit. Sweet malt and caramel flavor at the onset, which is quickly overtaken by hop and grapefruit bitterness. Very full mouthfeel with a perfect amount of stickiness. Excellent Imperial IPA. PhillyBeer2112 (1861), Orange Park, Florida, USA Oct 9, 2008 Big resiny hop nose. A little body odor. Malts are hard to come by - a little sugar caramel. Sugary flavors with resiny hops. Long resiny bitter finish. Very bitter. Copper color. LilBeerDoctor (639), East Setauket, New York, USA Oct 7, 2008 Bottle. Pours a clear light orange with a small white, foamy head. Aroma of bitter grassy, garlicy hops and bitter grapefruit. Flavor is super bitter and a little too bitter for my tastes (even as a hop lover). The hop profile is a little off too. Not a fan of this one. fredandboboflo (631), East Setauket, New York, USA Oct 7, 2008 Updated: Oct 8, 2008Bottle. Wow. Bottled grapefruit. Dead on grapefruit bitterness. Having a beer like this makes me realize how often I too loosely use grapefruit as a descriptor. This is the real deal. I’m sort of indifferent to grapefruit as a fruit, but here in beer form it tastes luscious to me. Quite a fluffy mouthfeel for a massive 9.2% IPA. And that’s all I got. SuperDave70 (832), Beautiful Sunny Mesa, Arizona, USA Sep 27, 2008 Pours a nice cloudy copper color with a creamy, glass-sticking head. Big pine and grapefruit hop aroma, with a touch of toasty caramel malt fighting through at times. Flavor follows the aroma, huge bitter grapefruit and pine flavors don’t even try to be balanced by the slightly sweet malt undertones. Thick and lingering on the palate, with a big bitter finish. Seriously tasty!
