Beaver (588), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA Feb 4, 2009 22 oz bottle. Pours a clear golden orange with a creamy white head that quickly diminishes to a thin film that leaves some lacing.
The aroma is sweet melon, leather and some peppery hops.
The flavor is sweet caramel malts, some melon and a lot of peppery, tarry bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.
Overall, a decent IPA with a good amount of bitterness. The hop flavors weren’t up my alley - too tarry and charred.
afireinside96 (817), Mountville, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 2, 2009 22oz bottle served in a Duvel tulip. Hazy light amber body topped by a half inch of head. Smells of mango, apricot, toffee, and pineapple. First impression upon sipping it was that it had nice bitterness but it was masking a sticky sweetness. Has flavor notes of pineapple, caramel, grass, and citrus. Finishes a mess, lots of lasting bitterness and sticky and cloying at the same time. Certainly not a bad beer but it just can’t hang with some of the other amazing IPAs out there. BigBang (210), Indiana, USA Jan 31, 2009 Piney and grapefrt aroma. Pours orange with small foamy head. Taste is same with nice bitter finish. Excellent. tjthresh (1748), Greenfield, Indiana, USA Jan 30, 2009 Pours clean copper orange with an off white head. Decent hop nose that come off earthy. Clean citrus hop flavors with some good malt character too. Clean bitter finish. It a fine beer, but not on par with the greats. arrogantb (695), Denver, Colorado, USA Jan 30, 2009 22oz bottle $4.49. Nice light golden color. Smells immediately hoppy, resinous but has a malt backbone peeking out. The taste immediately made me think of the Moylander double IPA. Overall, this was good, easy to drink and would be better off in sixers in my opinion.

Certainly not up there with Bell’s Two-Hearted Ale or Racer 5. However....had it on tap in DC recently and was remarkably impressed. Ordered and received a keg yesterday and have just sampled for the first time: WOW! This stuff rules. It is so crisp, so clear, so wonderful. It is not overly piney like Green Flash West Coast IPA, and yet it has more depth and complexity than Two-Hearted. Beautiful lacing on the glass, unusually light in color for an IPA, but simply magnificent. The keg conditioning makes ALL the difference. This one is truly special boys and girls. The only drawback is cost: $210/keg. fonefan (10868), VestJylland, Denmark Jan 18, 2009 Bottle 1pt. 6fl.oz. Unclear medium orange color with a large, frothy, excellent lacing, fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, heavy hoppy, grapefruit, orange, spicy. Flavor is light heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [250908] watson1977 (250), , Pennsylvania, USA Jan 10, 2009 pours a deep honey orange color with a creamy white head and great lacing and retention. smells of spice and citrus hops and tastes mildly citrusy with big pine and spice and a very hoppy dry finish.
