michael-pollack (2606), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 19, 2007 22oz. Bottle: Medium bitter aroma. Smells of hops, pine, resin, and citrus.
Poured amber in color with a small, rocky, off-white head that lasted throughout. Good lacing. Clear. Lightly sparkling. There may be a lot of tiny particles; I can’t tell if it might just be the glass. Flavor is lightly sweet and heavily bitter. Tastes of caramel malt, hops, pine, and resin. Medium body. Smooth texture. Average carbonation. Lightly dry, bitter, hop finish. Overall, a good West Coast IPA. YourDarkLord (1800), Urbana, Illinois, USA Sep 11, 2007 Golden amber body under a foamy white head. Citrus hops evident in the aroma along with caramel malt, and some fruit notes. The taste is dominated by the hops with some of the sweet malt fighting its way through without much success. Not much balance in the flavor but it wasn’t a bad drink. kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Date: 03/22/1997

Delirium (495), Santa Cruz, California, USA Aug 31, 2007 Bomber. Pours slightly hazy copper-orange with a fluffy white head. Aroma is caramel malt balanced nicely with pine and fruity citrus hops. Flavor is strong resiny hops throughout, especially in a long, bitter, astringent finish, with a bit of pine and citrus character, and some malts somewhere in the background. This is pretty good, though I could do with some more complexity in the flavor besides the nondescript bitterness. BJP2006 (33), Washington, USA Aug 27, 2007 22 oz Bomber poured a light orange decent head not much hop aroma here somewhat cardboardy- taste is way off balence just bitter and no flavor no hop character or malt, just bitter hmm maybe a bad bottle riversideAK (2650), Shoreline, Washington, USA Aug 24, 2007 Aroma of bitter earth and grass, caramel malt, pine, and funk. Hazy orange brown. Looks unfiltered to me. Nice earthy bitterness with a long lingering dryness. A little citrus and pine, but mostly earth, pepper, a little dirt. Pretty resiny. Medium bodied with a little bit of metallic notes. I have had better. golubj (1275), Sunnyvale, California, USA Aug 17, 2007 Bottle. Nice grapefruit aroma only mildly metallic. Thicker consistency and slightly frothy. There is some malt initially but the pine, grapefruit, and metallic hops take over. Pretty bitter for a regular IPA. Glouglouburp (2782), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Aug 13, 2007 Cloudy golden-orange body topped enormous off-white head leaving big lacings. Fruity hops on the nose, and lots of it. Taste is fresh juicy orange and mangos dipped in caramel. Very fruity taste, I could easily have named another 12 fruits but these two were dominant ones for me. Maybe the mouthfeel played a trick on me but the word that kept coming back to me was “meringue”. A little peppery in the finish. High bitterness level. As far as bitterness intensity is concerned this one is probably in the top 5%. More bitter than a recently single office clerk seeing his former-girlfriend making out with his former high-school football quarterback on St-Valentine day. The hops fruitiness dominates but the not-so-tasty caramelized malts provide an appropriate support for this hops extravaganza. Full bodied with a meringue mouthfeel. In-your-face IPA with an intense fresh juicy flavour.
