blankboy (3165), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 30, 2006 Bottle shared with HogTownHarry & mds -- courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a hazy orange with a large lasting fluffy white head. Aroma is surprisingly sweet with fruity malt, some spices and a variety of fresh hops -- very nice! Hoppy flavour nicely balanced with sweet caramel malt -- pleasant spicey bitter finish. Simple but damn tasty. Medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel. Wow, I can’t believe how underrated this beer is, I thought it was absolutely delicious. HogTownHarry (3922), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada Sep 26, 2006 Updated: Sep 27, 2006Bottle (650ml). Shared with blankboy and mds, my bottle. Slightly hazy orange with a large off-white. Sweet-ish fruity malty, resin/citrus/floral hops. Taste - very bitter hops (herbal), citrus malt - nice balance. Average IPA body, decent carbonation, lightl astringency, nice herbal finish - nice. waolsen (1220), Littleton, Colorado, USA Sep 22, 2006 bottle. golden/copper pour with thick white head. nice lacing. Huge citrus hops, pepper, piney resin aroma. kind of a creamy mouth. sweet malts really suprise in this over hopped beer. big time bitter finish. tartness from citrus. a little too much citrus. slightly syrup like. very nice. sheatripper (863), Brooklyn, New York, USA Sep 18, 2006 Bomber which unfortunately exploded upon opening, sending five or so ounces onto the floor and into the sink. Doh! Otherwise, poured a cloudy orange with a huge merange-like craggy tan head, mostly lasting and leaving stripes of lacing. Aroma of grapefruit and piney hops, spice, a bit of soapiness and some tree sap as well. Very hoppy flavor, spicy, with rich caramel butter-toffee malt foundation. Almost reminiscent of an imperial. Medium palate-smooth. Nice lingering resiny hop bitterness on the finish. From what I salvaged this is a very good left coast IPA. Quite surprised the average rating isn’t higher. Ughsmash (3981), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Sep 8, 2006 Bomber. Poured a clear medium orange with an explosive and long-lived cap of creamy beige head... left some nice lacing. Nose was airy and grainy... with hard-to-reach pine and spicy hops... some caramel and toffee beneath. The flavor carried itself a little better, with pine, grapefruit, and spicy English hoppage on top of super-sweet caramel and candy corn. Medium bitterness on the not-so-memorable palate... a bit tacky at the back-end. Decent. Bockyhorsey (2487), Mesa, Arizona, USA Sep 5, 2006 22oz. Bottle. Good floral aroma. Body had a firery copper color with big foamy off white head. As soon as I took off the cap foam was bubbling like that oil Jed Clampit found in the hillbillies. Took few minutes for head to settle so I could have a beer. Medium bodied brew with a good mix of sweet, citrus, spice and bitter. Sweet dry palate, decent beer. rudolf (1734), Buffalo, New York, USA Sep 3, 2006 Copper body, huge light tan head. Nose is piney/resin hops, grapefruit, medium toasted malt, maybe a hint of alcohol. Flavor is citruc/pine, relatively sweet malt. Grapefruit in the finish. puzzl (2579), New York, New York, USA Sep 1, 2006 Pours with a humongous head that laces beautifully, and unfortunately makes drinking the beer very difficult. Aroma is strong in hops but exhibits strong vegetal characteristics, celery, eggplant, tomato, too much so, where I normally prefer my hops citrusy or piney. There is a strong funky maltiness in the flavor that is uncharacteristic of IPAs and tastes very german. Overall, the really comes off as almost being a german IPA, rather than American (not to mention west coast).
