MrBunn (1520), Western, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 26, 2006 Aromas are wonderful of pine and grapefruit with a floral background. Color is amber/orange with a massive (insanely large) foamy head that is currently obstructing my path to the beer below. Although the hops are clearly dominant in the aroma, they are a little more subdued in the flavor where they blend very well with a creamy, caramel flavoring from malt. This is much sweeter flavored than I would have guessed and a very interesting take on the IPA genre in the US. It’s much creamier than most and has a very silky texture. OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA Aug 16, 2006 22oz bottle pours amber with a big offwhite head that stays prety well and laces the sides of the glass. Aroma is straight up grapefruit and pine hops. Flavor is more balanced.. Big blast of hops upfront gives way to sticky sweet caramel malts before the hops come back to finish it off bitter and dry. Somewhat watery palate that I didn’t particularly care for. Pretty well balanced though. Not bad for 3.99 for 22oz though.. nolankowal (850), Columbus, Ohio, USA Aug 12, 2006 Why this is rated so low, I’ll never know. Pours a golden orange with a sturdy, creamy yellowish-white head...nice retention as well. Pretty balanced aroma, a nice bit of sweet malt interlaced with pine citrus, and a smidge of...smoke? The floavor holds a good deal of similar characteristics(sans the smoke)...bitter, sweet, and clean. A nice body, though a bit thin at times gives way to a overly warming feeling that borders on burning torwards the end. Despite that, a nice couple of hop punches with a decent malt backbone and a crazy lasting bitter aftertaste makes this money well spent. illinismitty (1790), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Aug 11, 2006 Another great bottle from Zug4abby. Bomber. Pours golden orange with a nice pillowy white head and spotty lacing. Citrusy hop aroma of grapefruit and lemon, with some faint leafiness. Immediatly entering my mouth, the feathery texture and mouthfeel along with the toffee and sweet caramel maltiness reminds me of a good english bitter. But then the hops suddendly kick in to remind me that this baby is from the west coast. Dry, earthy, and slight resinous finish. This lingers nicely. Not bad. jah noth (1015), Rochester, New York, USA Aug 10, 2006 Updated: Aug 13, 2006Utterly delicious. Massive sitric aroma rises from the frothy head. Pours a fairly clear, deep golden in color. The combination of Chinook (lemon zinger) and fuggles (earthy resin) is a hop lovers dream come true. The malting has enough sweetness, but lets the hops shine. Lingering bitterness. The Moylander is great, but this is more my speed. How this isn’t rated higher is a head scratcher. Fabulous. realale420 (399), west covina, California, USA Aug 7, 2006 22oz bottle poured clear copper color with a nice lasting white head with good lacing. Aroma is mostly floral citrus hops with some nice carmel malt. Taste has a nice bitterness that is not over powering with a good dry hoppy finish. Overall one of the better IPA’s if it is fresh. GuilTTy (527), Cherry Hill, New Jersey, USA Aug 7, 2006 Crystal clear light copper supporting a thin off white head. Mild grapefruit and strong pine aroma. Flavors of grapefruit and vanilla up front followed by toasted malt and finishing with an herbal, hoppy note at the back of the toungue. Mouthfeel was watery but the finish was whip crack dry and refreshing. Overall, this is definately not in the same league as other west coast behemoths but it is still a solid enough IPA. ratman197 (3139), Arvada, Colorado, USA Aug 4, 2006 Bomber poured a clear amber with a lasting off white head, Aromas of carmel, earthiness, spices, pine and a bit of citrus. Palate was medium bodied dry and resiny. Flavors of carmel, earthiness, spice, pine and grapefryit rind with a dry "in your face" bitter finish.
