Always around but I never tried it until I got it from my daughter for a birthday present. What a good kid. Pours a nice looking amber with a lacing white head. The aroma is malty sweet with just a hint of the hops to come. The flavor starts malty and then gets bitter. It has a peppery feel to it. Lots of hops, very bitter. The finish is crisp, clean and dry. Very nice.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 glennmastrange (1637) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - APR 6, 2011
Bottle. Moderate malt aromas of roasted and caramel, grapefruit and orange for the hops, light dough for the yeast, with notes of date, pepper and paper. Head is small, frothy turning creamy, white with good lacing and is fully lasting. Color is murky grayish amber with a lot of fine particles. Flavor starts faintly sweet and moderately acidic, then the long finish is lightly acidic and heavily bitter. Palate is medium, oily with a carbonation between soft and lively. This is a pretty good IPA, simple in some respects, bold in others.

Bottle on sale...foreboding. Pours a cloudy murky mango color with one finger of off white head. Nose is definitely past prime, bready and oxidized. Some peach and musty old hops. So goes the flavor. Earthy and herbal hop character. Will try fresh.

Pours hazy gold into a Sam glass. Off-white head with good retention recedes leaving sheet lacing to skim surface. Caramel, resin and grapefruit aromas. Medium bodied with upfront resin turning to caramel in the middle before a lasting grapefruit finish.

Thanks for sharing this Mike! Deep hazed copper/gold with a frothy sticky lace cap. Intense nose of toffee, burnt sugars, citrus, aluminum, some pine. Tastes quite sweet, with a marked bitterness that doesn’t seem to be enough for this malt bomb. Very fruity with citric pith.A huge mother of an IPA. Thick, viscous, drinks like a double.Long finish. Good!
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 jcr (1681) - Jasper, Indiana, USA - NOV 9, 2010
Clear golden body with a fizzy, off-white head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is mostly hops with notes of resin and grapefruit. A slight hint of toasted grain. The flavor is lightly to moderately bitter and lightly to moderately sweet. It finishes lightly sweet and moderately to heavily bitter with the bitterness lingering well into the aftertaste. Medium body, water texture turning sticky in the finish, lively carbonation. This is pretty much the definition of a West Coast IPA — heavily hopped, so much so that it overpowers the malts.
