TheOrange (361), Kent, Ohio, USA Jul 10, 2008 Pour is a nice deep almost black dark brown. The head is small, and deep tan. The aroma is dominated by the sweet roasty malts. There are a lot of flavors in this beer. The hops are fairly quite, the flavor is very chocolate/coffee with nice nutty overtones. The roasted malts are not too strong, and give a nice splash of sweetness. The finish is not crisp, but does not linger too long. The body over all I would describe as medium bodied. A very enjoyable stout.
mgermani (649), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Nov 29, 2008 Pours a pitch black with a short lived but finger-thick loose brown head - I was expecting a paler Guinness-style thick head... interesting. Head reduces to thin cover of foam on the top with some lacing. Aroma is very faint - thin toasted malt & light molasses. Tastes of very light coffee with plenty of cream, light chocolate, buttery and lightly toasty. Very faint bittering hops. Light carbonation, thin body, but quite pleasantly creamy mouthfeel. I do like the chocolaty taste here, and the thinness doesn’t bother me so much as I am expecting a sturdy but sessionable dry stout and Moylans delivers. Very nice! JPDIPSO (4345), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Oct 10, 2008 Rudy brown color with a dark bone colored head. Grainy aromas with a hint of DMS. Thinner feel. Dark chocolate and mild vanilla flavors combine for a milk shake flavor. Seems bland. Finishes dry. Light roasted malt in the linger. A thin dry stout. A session type stout. DA (2586), Portland, Oregon City, Oregon, USA Oct 1, 2008 Ebony body with a tall brown head. Roasted chocolate aroma. Dry cocoa and milk chocolate, very smooth body, with lingering chocolate in the finish. One solid stout, one of the best stouts I’ve had in a long time, great flavor with a mild ABV. clingman71 (178), Centerville, Ohio, USA Dec 30, 2007 Draft-Nitrogen @ brewery. Very dark, almost brown head, aroma of coffee, very creamy and smooth, pretty flavorful for an Irish Stout, a style that I normally find lacking
