This deep amber brownish beer has a pleasing malty aroma. Well rounded rich malt flavor hide how strong this beer really is. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

FROM NOTES: June 28, ’12 22 ounce bomber bottle into a tulip. A: Caramel, graham crackers & vanilla. Complex. A: Pours bronze, almost copper colored with a little off-color white head and fair lacing. T: Chocolate and toffee. Ends with a pleasant floral hop aftertaste. P: A bit creamy, almost syrupy. An OUTSTANDING sipper. O: I love this style of beer and this is a very drinkable/sessionable scotch ale. I realize not everyone can/desires to session scotch ales so if you are looking for the best example of the style, this probably isn’t it. But if you are looking for a great tasting scotch ale, check it out.

UPDATED: OCT 28, 2013 I guess Scotch Ales just aren’t for me since this appears to be one of the best and I just don’t like it. Strange because I like Scotch and I like beer. The hybrid just doesn’t do it for me.

Press a dark copper color. Aromas are somewhat muted. Dark fruits, caramel, some peat. Flavors are sweet and malty with some smoke. Not bad.

On tap at Rogue Public House, SF. Dark reddish brown colour with a short light brown head. Complex and evolving taste led by chocolate into notes of plum and anise. A faint smokiness lurks at the edges. Different to the other beers of this style I’ve had, but in a good way. Enjoyed it.

Great burgundy color with not a lot of aroma. Very tasty though - lots of bready and nutty malts. Slight fruitiness from the minimal hops. Quite sweet on the finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
