2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Huge bottle and the taste is a bit rough and alcohol-tinged. Harsh herbal notes and just plain undrinkable. I know it's won some awards. Count me among the people who just don't "get" this brew.

Poured a brownish color with reddish tones. A frothy small head. An aroma of chocolate carame and sweetness. A sweet flavor, some hoppy notes and caramel. A touch of chocolate and notes of oak. A medium body.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours a copper, ruby color with decent amount of foam. Thick caramel peat malt aroma. Body is robust and has some stale graininess to it. Interesting complexity with a strong western hop influence. Finish is of toasted malt with some alcoholic notes. This beer was confusing and had a lot of off-flavors that detracted from its authenticity.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Did anyone order a glass of foam??? I know i didnt but that is what i got, this beer had a white head that looked like a root beer float head and lasted four times as ling, i couldnt believe it. the clear, red-brown body that supported this incredible head was a smooth medium bodied treat of a scotch ale. at 8% the head lasted ages and the alcohol was very well hidden behind a very comfortable smokiness. i say comfortable because that is what it is in my mouth, it was not forced into the beer because the style is supposed to have some smoke in it, it was finnessed into the beer. the aroma and flavor both have notes of smokiness. the flavor has the smoke accompanied by supporting malts, the hops are not all that apparent though i know they are there. after a bottle of this i might have to go put one of my kilts on.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This beer pours a dark, clear brown color with a small, rapidly dissipating white head. No lacings are left on the glass. Malty, sweet, slightly fruity aroma with just a hint of alcohol. Medium bodied and very smooth, I taste apples up front along with the malts and a sweet finish. I detect no hops in the flavor. A malty and tasty Scotch ale that packs a good alcohol punch.

I’m finding it hard not to give this brew five points all around, becuase this is what I enjoyed while my Green Bay Packes beat the cat ass dome vikings tonight. Really though, this was a very good scottish ale, power, flavor-maybe too much though, but damn good. And the PACKERS won, And the rest of the packers fans will hopefully enjoy many fines brews tonight,

This is a decent Scotch Ale. Not up there with Traquair House, but not that bad of an example.
