3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 AceOfHearts (1375) - San Francisco, USA - JUL 5, 2008
Bottle. Dammit why does my first rating in forever have to be right after MartinT? No one’s ratings are better than his. Somewhat sweet, a little metallic in the flavor. Doesn’t seem very strong and the mouthfeel could be firmer. Some caramel in the taste, quiet finish.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 jackl (764) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 26, 2012
Bottle, generously shared by Leighton. Deep, slightly hazy red with a medium head. The nose is light strawberry and caramel malts, light smoke and general spiciness. The taste is more subtle caramels, warming oak wood and fruitcake. The finish is hot and a bit sickly. The carbonation is quite soft, the beer slightly viscous. Overall, an OK scotch ale. I found it somewhat astringent on the finish, which marks it down a little bit.

Bomber. Fairly non-descript aroma with hints of lactose. Beautiful reddish amber. Not much lace. Caramelly flavor. Faint hop in the finish. Some strength and a pepper backbone. Nice beer; one of the better American made scotch ales Ive had.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 ESBob (164) - Indiana, USA - APR 29, 2012
Bomber. Poured a hazy light brown with tannish head. Aroma was sweet malt caramel. Some spice.Taste is sweet ripe citrus, some spice. DIfferent for a scotch ale, perhaps a bit too sweet. Good not great.

Tap at Brady’s Brewhouse in New Richmond, WI. Clear orange-amber pour with minimal head (dissipated to no head in a couple minutes). Bready malt nose with some earthiness. Medium palate. Taste is grassy, earthy, malty, some caramel and dark fruit.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 jimthechap (805) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - APR 20, 2012
Pours a lovely clear coppery rosy brown with a fluffy greenish cream coloured head. that sank slowly into the glass. Good marks for appearance, this beer looks ultra enticing. Aromas of licorice, chopped herbs, chocolate and red rope licorice. Cool and a little bit spicy before molasses pumpernickel flavour comes out. Then it develops into caramel and a cheeky burnt toffeeish flavour with cherryvite. Not a great deal of bitterness, which is to be expected in a beer of this style. The finish is a little short unfortunately which reduces the marks for this otherwise tasty beer. Oh hang it. I enjoyed this beer enormously.
3.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Rangi (120) - NEW ZEALAND - MAR 30, 2012
Realy enjoyed this beer. It was rich and strong at 8% but it had a good depth of flavour. Could easily have a night out on the Kelt Lifter if not a short night!

Very roasty aroma. Poured amber in color. A bit too sweet of flavor for this one.

Dark copper brew with a crimson & scarlett body and eggshell film. Way too fruity for the style. Raspberry, plum skin tartness, blueberry and cherries. Caramel, toffee, and syrup. Weird. Off. Hmmm. Not a fan of this one...
3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 BK7 (306) - Turner, Oregon, USA - MAR 15, 2012
Bomber. Big malty flavor with a hint of citrus in the background. Smooth drinking. A bit too much carbonation. Dark fruit flavors come out as the brew warms up. Slight alcohol burn at the end.
