rkuhnel (1199), Eureka, California, USA Nov 22, 2006 Updated: Dec 24, 2006 22 oz bottle. I am amazed at how consistently good Moylan’s brews are. Here is another winner. Pours a beautiful amber with with a huge long-lasting off-white head that left great lacing.
Enormous nose of hops with a touch of citrus and fruit. Palate is very oily yet is clean and crisp. Flavor is a perfect bitterness I have come to associate with quality IPA’s Great finish. Great brew. One of my all time favorites. A hopheads dream.
TeamTrappist (207), jericho, New York, USA Dec 3, 2008 Bomber. Poured a murky orange amber. This has a super piny and grapefruit nose. Sort of a light front, a huge middle, and a great bitter finish. I noticed some interesting spice notes that kind of distinguish this from just the hopslam imperial IPA crowd. Very good, and would have this again, in fact I have, thegreenrooster (1578), St.louis, Missouri, USA Nov 29, 2008 Pour is a cloudy orange with no head. Aroma is piney/citrus hops. Flavor is again piney/citrus hops with a low malt profile. Alcohol is no problem and the finish is smooth and easy going down. Decent but not mind blowing for this style. dirtcampbrew (4), , Colorado, USA does not count Nov 27, 2008 Typical west coast 2IPA. A big hop nose wonderfully aromatic with tones of floral/citrusy hops. A well supported malt backbone. A good mouthfeel overall. A beer worthy of its style. jbuzz (566), South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Nov 20, 2008 I guess i have gotten used to big hps. This one falls a little short. Its good but go for the triples. MrBunn (951), Western, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 19, 2008 Bomber. Pours a nice orange with a fluffy, off-white head that laces a bit. Aromas are grapefruit & pineapple, with a bit of sugary sweetness underneath. Flavor is a great take on the double IPA… not overpoweringly sweet or alcoholic or unbalanced towards a hops explosion. There are plenty of citrus/pine hops to go around, but the sweetness from the malt keeps them in check and things only go a bit awry in the late aftertaste which seems to have a decidedly bitter grapefruit peel taste on every other sip or so. Still, this is very drinkable.
