Draft at the brewpub. Pours amber with a beige/tan head. Malty aroma with some earthy notes. Flavor is very malty and slightly woody. Slightly earthy. It’s not sticky and not all that sweet. Maybe earthy hops are providing balance. Finishes less than dry with non-intrusive heat. Drinks very well.

UPDATED: FEB 8, 2011 Sample at the brewpub (as "Special Reserve"). This beer is a dark brownish-amber color with a medium beige head that dissipates slowly. Sticky rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel malt and hops. Medium to full body with flavors of sweet malt and caramel along with moderately bitter hops and grapefruit. The finish is hoppy with a lingering citrus aftertaste. Above average overall.

"Special reserve" @ the brewpub. Very aggressive flavors. Hops , bitterness and sweetness are all in overdrive. Overall balanced but completely over the top. The bitterness sticks around too. Very sweet malt. Tasted like a lot more than 10%. If this has aged a year, it was prob. pretty harsh out of the gate.

Tap at the brewery. Cloudy chestnut pour with a thin, nutmeg film for a head. Sweet barley nose, reminiscent of brewed tea leaves. Big in the mouth. Mild malt with alcohol warmth and a medium bitter aftertaste. Really good but flAT on the end.

Sample at the brewpub on 8/8/10. Pours a clear red with a medium tan head. Caramel malt nose with bitter hops and lemon. Starts of malty with lots of caramel and adds hints of bitter hops before a smooth finish.

Clear orange with a creamy off white head. Nice molasses and citrus aroma. Rich vanilla molasses and citrus taste. Very good.
