Our Barleywine is a rich and heavy ale brewed to a high gravity. Massive body, mouthfeel and hoppiness.

This barleywine style ale tastes like a barley wine to me but make no mistake I know it is only in the style. Its cloudy brown body and thin white head give off an earthy mineral character. The taste is rich malt balanced by bitterness and it hides its strength well. Very nice.

650ml bottle from Beers Of Europe shared with Steve.Pour was a brownish red colour with medium sized off white head.Caramel aroma with a few nutty hints.Nutty tasting alongside the caramel with the alcohol more in the background.Average but decent enough barley wine.

Bottle shared by Gerrit. Thanks! Pours a lightly hazed deep copper with an offwhite head. Nose is leafy and herbal hops. Distinct caramel carries across as well. Clean, light sherry note. On tasting, very drinkable. Warming alcohol is noted. Medium bitterness. Earthy, a bit out of balance overall. Leafy and herbal. Not too bad.

Bottle. Pours a slightly reddish dark brown color with a moderate off-white head. Nose is rather malty and harsh. Taste is much the same - indicative of the style, but nothing remarkable.

What a gorgeous beer! Itís deep, dark red color is a perfect contrast to the bright, somewhat dense white head. The first thing that jumps out at you once you begin the intake is its strong, high-caramel malt, nutty aroma. For as much alcohol as is in this, it really doesnít come through in the nose at all, and it even smells a little denser than most barleywines. That nuttiness carries through into the mouth, which is followed by a dry, bitter rustiness that pools underneath the tongue. It wreaks of a strange combination of tobacco, dry cocoa and green oak. Honestly, Iím not sure that I like this. Even though itís packed with alcohol, it tastes more like a nutty, low-alcohol English Old Ale. Why is this so awkward? My suggestion: if you drink this, drink it cold to hide the weirdness. I wonder if itís because itís aged a few months. Eh... bad excuse. Why so many people give this such high reviews, I have no idea.

BLEGH. This is not good. On tap at Kinetic to snifter. Pours brown no head, aroma of alcohol. little hops little malt mostly just booze. Taste is the same with mostly a hot tongue. palate is thin and hot like it was spiked with too much corn sugar. Overall the clear loser of the bunch. might be one of the worst barleywines Iíve ever had.

Aroma and flavor have similar notes of pruneness. The booziness is there showing its barleywine pedigree. Overall a decent run of the mill barleywine that doesnt kick your butt with alcohol bite.

pours dark orange brown with sustaining frothy off white head. Aroma of nuts, caramel, roast, butter. Full bodied. Flavor is rich and nutty, with some soft cocoa tones on the finish as well as a light bitterness, and sweet malt throughout. An unassuming, but very pleasant barleywine.

Gift from Bruce, thanks for the opportunity! Pours a slightly hazy golden brown with a smallish tan head that persists for bit before leaving spotty lace on the glass. Aromas of dark sugars and fruits with brown sugar, caramel, cherry, plum, and orange providing the bulk of the nose. The flavor is sweet with brown sugar and caramel and lots of rich juicy dark fruits. A touch of alcohol and a bit of earthy citrus hops provide a nice balance to mix. Medium to thick body with a light to moderate level of carbonation and a sweet fruity slick mouthfeel. This a very nice barleywine, its very smooth and tasty, Iím surprised its flown so far under the radar until now.

22 oz. bottle from Grape & Gourmet. Hazy brownish-orange pour with a short khaki head. Aroma of tangerine hops, cherries, booze, and a touch of oak. The citrus hop flavor is met with tobacco, toffee, and brown sugar. Every bit of the 10% alcohol is noticed in the flavor and finish. A nicely done, big and bold barleywine.
