Bottle shared at The Kernel, London. This bottle was aged for about two years. Pours clear brown with a big, yellow-beige foam. Big toasty toffee nose, bread, caramel, pine. Big sweet flavor, good balance, mellow alcohol, good hop presence still, pine, light earth, toasty bread, toffee, brown sugar. Full bodied with fine, creamy carbonation. Nice and sweet to finish with mellow warmth, toasty malts, toffee, light coffee, toasted bread, brown sugar, light toasty leaves. Great balance throughout. Graceful barley wine.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
22oz bottle. Pours a clear mahogany with slightly red beige head that doesnít really last long. Smells like barley wine; that unmistakable mixture of wood, fruit and burnt caramel. Solid but nothing special in the category. Pretty thick on the palate with less fruit than the nose would suggest. Pleasantly warming although a good slug burns a bit.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
From a 650ml bottle on 20/7/2012. Pours a deep brown with a small head. Has a lovely strong aroma of caramel and toffee, along with some brown sugar. Tastes like youíd expect from the aroma, with masses of sweet caramel, toffee and brown sugar, with some black tea, spices, hints of stone fruits, and a big lingering hop bitterness. The texture is creamy and the carbonation a little higher than typical for the style. This is an excellent, hoppy barley wine.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a murky caramel brown with one finger of creamy beige tan head. Nose shows rich dextrinous malt with lots of caramel and brown sugar. Light oxidation and musty/papery grain. Big herbal component, almost like tea leaves. Sharp flavor, bitter and slightly astringent. Not too clean, oxidized to a degree. Some sweetness, cut by a super prominent bitterness. Medium full body with a harsh palate.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber pours a clear dark amber color with a khaki head and a little sticky lacing. Aroma has lots of molasses, some caramel malts and noticeable fruits and nuts. Taste is Initially sweet with a nutty and slightly dry finish (which is the only place I can notice the hops). Body is medium without much carbonation. Texture is slightly oily. Alcohol is well hidden, so this was a fun one to drink. Not as great as a couple of other Moylanís brews Iíve tried and not my favorite barleywine, but well worth a try. Iíll try this one again.
