Bottle @ BeerTemple, Amsterdam. Thought it was a barrel aged DIPA, turned out to be a very dry/hopped barley wine. Deceptively drinkable, quite nice.

Pours a dirty, hazy orange with decent, short-lived head and not much lacing. Aroma is sweet, spicy, nutty with toffee. Taste is caramel malts, toffee, herbal, brown sugar, finishing a little drier with hops. Not a bad one, but not outstanding in any particular way. ABV not obvious.

Bottled. Pours clear amber with a small, laicing beige head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, dried fruit and hoppy notes. Sweet flavor that ends up more dry and with bitter notes. Medium to full bodied, oily to syruoy texture and soft carb. An excellent barley.

650ml bomber from Discount in Waukesha. Cellar aged 4 months. Pours a reddish orange with a bit of an off-white head. Aroma has sweet fruits, orangey citrus, nuts, stone fruits and caramel. Taste is of sweet fresh fruits, oranges, dates, sour fruit, raisins and nuts, tangy spices, some pine and some resin, caramelly malts, some earthiness and some straw. Interesting blend. Medium bodied and sticky. Some alcohol presence. Finishes sweet with sour fruits, dates and nuts. Solid/interesting. Not in the top 10 barleys, but not in the bottom 10 either.

Bottle - 650ml. Cloudy chestnut body with a thin beige foamy/creamy head. Rich malty/hoppy aroma with fruity, yeasty, brown sugar, and some woody hints. Alcohol is subtle. Its robust taste is slightly dominated by hoppy flavors. It carries malty, brown sugar, vineous, oaky, and plummy notes. Ends with a long, warming bittersweet finish. Good stuff.
