So I picked this up for a $1... thatís right, one dollar. Guess the lineup didnít do too well around here, so they were just getting it out the door. I picked up a case, think "how bad could a barley-wine really be?" Man, I should have bought everything they had! A VERY respectable barley-wine that already had 6-8 months of aging on it and was tasting great! Plenty of malt sweetness with a bit of booziness that Iím hoping will fall off with a bit more aging, and lots of dark fruit complexity. Not the best barley-wine Iíve ever had, but itís without a DOUBT the best Iíve had for the price!

"another big sweet beer from Moylanís. A little on the maltier side, with a thick, soft mouthfeel, this is a good after dinner sipper. Ages well, and itís very nice on tap."

A nice barley wine. Reddish body. Nice sweet malty aroma. Kind of a hoppy element to this considering it's a barley wine. Nice.

Bottle @ BeerTemple, Amsterdam. Thought it was a barrel aged DIPA, turned out to be a very dry/hopped barley wine. Deceptively drinkable, quite nice.

Pours a dirty, hazy orange with decent, short-lived head and not much lacing. Aroma is sweet, spicy, nutty with toffee. Taste is caramel malts, toffee, herbal, brown sugar, finishing a little drier with hops. Not a bad one, but not outstanding in any particular way. ABV not obvious.

Pour on tap at Black Bottle, dark reddish ruby pour with white head, aroma brought notes of big dark roast, cocoa, hints of earth into a bit of spice, earth, slight grassy note. Taste is a mix of bitter grass, caramel, toffee, hints of raisin and plum into a bit of earthy, oaky notes, finishing bitter.

Bottled. Pours clear amber with a small, laicing beige head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, dried fruit and hoppy notes. Sweet flavor that ends up more dry and with bitter notes. Medium to full bodied, oily to syruoy texture and soft carb. An excellent barley.
