Chocolate truffles, cocoa, espresso coffee, burnt currants, the sweetness of a sherry - all come to mind when enjoying an Imperial Stout. A rich porter of English origin brewed to withstand the long voyage from London to Czarist Russia. The classic "Winter Warmer". Big, Strong, Malty Stout.

Not really malty. Just herbal bitter and tremendously complex. Salty, with plenty of chocolate, coffee and what must be crude oil. Wow, this is the oiliest beer ever, I feel like Daniel Plainview drinking it. "There it is, that’s a straw, you see? You watching?. And my straw reaches acroooooooss the room, and starts to drink your milkshake... I... drink... your... milkshake!" Now I must find Eli to bash his head.

Süß-herber Kaffeantrunk.

Detsamma men något mer återhållet i smaken.

Bottle from 2005 leftover from the Tasters Choice meetup. Pours a solid dark brown with a huge bubbly tan head that persists forever. The aroma is heavy on the milk chocolate with bits of roast, dark fruit and a hint of sherry. The flavor is rich dark and milk chocolate with a little bit of caramel. Light fruity tartness with hints of earth. Medium body with a light to moderate level of carbonation and a sweet light syrupy mouthfeel. This bottle held up surprisingly well for its age! I may have to revisit a fresh bottle, because this was a pretty good beer.
