grant (741), Martinez, California, USA Jan 9, 2008 Very burnt sienna - almost orange - head floating atop an oily brown body. Aroma is big and brawny; milk chocolate and coffee grounds, earthy and peaty. A very light hint of vanilla dances at the edges. Flavor shows an initially harsh brash roastiness which bleeds into a more subdued sweet, alcoholic maltiness. A lot of high-cacao-content dark chocolate in the flavor, a little smoky, quite bitter. Quite a bit of ethanol in the finish and a ton of roastiness and bitterness finish it off. Has similarities to Old Raspy, minus the citrus aspect. Not my style, but could improve with some age.

The aroma is molassas and coffee. There is also a little hint of toasted walnuts. The taste has some coffee and dark chocolate. This is very roasted and has some almonds. Decent, but not great. MamoSean (3), Mission Viejo, California, USA does not count Jul 17, 2008 For the price of the bottle ($3.99), this is hard to beat. Definitely worth having in the fridge as an everyday option. pours a dark, dark brown (black) and has a strong smell to it - almost as much as Stone Imperial Russian Stout. deep brown head that rises and falls nicely. The coffee flavor is prevalent in the first few sips then dissipates in favor of the currants and other flavors.
