DTM (395), Winters, California, USA Oct 7, 2008 Bottle from Ledger’s in Berkley, CA. Pours almost black with a medium sized tan head. Tasted of roasted chocolate matls. A great beer to just sip on. Even gets better as it warms. WOW!! BeerBelcher (745), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Oct 7, 2008 I really enjoyed this imperial stout - it offers up a lot of flavors and seemed to reveal more and more with each sip and as it warmed up.
It pours black, with a pretty decently sized head for this style (their heads are usually pretty minimal). Aroma was not great...really just dry roastiness with some coffee notes. However, flavor revealed quite a bit more - coffee, a touch of sour sweetness, "burned pizza crust," and lots of chocolate notes. Mouthfeel was great - dry, smooth, but not overly sticky...still pretty clean.
A top notch beer. I bought this bottle at Discount Liquor. apshah99 (92), Portland, Oregon, USA Oct 5, 2008 Dark brown almost black pour with thin tan head. Aroma of roasted malt with alcohol. Tastes of bitter roasted chocolate malt with coffee and lots of smokiness. Excellent mouthfeel. danielcurtis81 (98), San Diego, California, USA Oct 3, 2008 Bottle. Pours a black ruby. Not much to the nose, just a bit of malt. Very malty flavors with mild tobacco flavors and small hints of chocolate. Lots of smoke flavors. A very long dry finish. Real good beer. BMan1113VR (905), Los Angeles (and Dallas, TX), California, USA Sep 25, 2008 Bottle thanks to zathrus13. Pours with a large, creamy, brown head covering a black body. Aroma of smoke, chocolate, alocohl and currants. Taste is chocolatey, and yeasty with some ash and alcohol warming noticable. Syrupy mouthfeel, light bubbles.
