3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, 22oz. A more or less black one, with a big, light tan to dark beige head. There seems to be some dms in the aroma, but the roasted malts, chocolate and coffee are much stronger. Some alchol and piney hops too. Full-bodied, soft and slighlty warming on the palate. There’s chocolate, coffee, some alchol, hoppy and roasted malts kind of bitterness, and as in the aroma, there’s some dms. Actually, the dms is slighlty disturbing. Bitter, roasted and warming finish that lasts for a good while. Well, except for the dms, this one’s pretty nice. 130808

there’s some irish moss in there amongst the other aromatics- choc, licorice etc.. a nice reference to the heritage. as I worked through this I enjoyed it more and more. layers of complex malt with balanced bitterness. Great one.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Dark brown pour. Huge sherry component in both the aroma and flavor. I also get a little chocolate and some roasted malts in the aroma. With the flavor in addition to the sherry, I detect coffee and chocolate. The finish is mouth coating bitter chocolate.

Rich, luxurious, just missing that complexity of other classics in the style. All the classic flavours though. Solid Impy.

Bomber from Ottos in Brookfield aged for 9 months, shared with ck1. Pours an opaque black with a tan head leaving nice lacing. Aroma has chocolate, caramel and oatmeal. Really nice! Taste is of smooth sweet chocolate, cocoa and caramel, with oatmeal. Some roast. Slightly rough, with a nice sweet bitterness. This was a good one! ck1 a 15 also.
