Chocolate truffles, cocoa, espresso coffee, burnt currants, the sweetness of a sherry - all come to mind when enjoying an Imperial Stout. A rich porter of English origin brewed to withstand the long voyage from London to Czarist Russia. The classic "Winter Warmer". Big, Strong, Malty Stout.

Chocolate nose, slight coffee, thick, opaque black, whiteish head, strong coffee notes, thick pallet, heavy mouth feel. Amazing beer, I like this more than the Stone Russian Imperial.

aroma and flavor are both mostly roasted malts, chocolate, and a slight hint of coffee. This isnít a imperial stout that stands out, but it isnít one that you really wonít dislike. Itís just solid were it is. by no means is this a bad stout.

Virtually no head, dark brown opaque body. Vineous aroma with tones of caramel, roasted and sweetness. Moderate sweetness and light-medium bitterness toward the end. Medium body, syrupy. Sampled at MartinTís place with other RateBeerians for the "Montrealís Voyager Par Les Papillesí first tasting session".

22oz Bomber. The poured a very dark brown to black color with a thin brown head with minimal retention. Aroma is mainly of a roasted coffee and chocolate malt scent with not much else going on. Typical imperial stout taste here with dark chocolate flavors and roasted coffee and hops bringing up the rear. There is a nice bitter aftertaste but no alcohol to be found anywhere in the smell or taste. Pretty good mouthfeel but this one is a little thin. Overall a decent imperial stout that is worth a try if you come across it.

Black color with a very thin head. Aroma of molasses, roasted malt and alcohol. Flavor of molasses, roasted malt and alcohol with a bitter finish. Vinous texture, light to medium body, medium carbonation. Itís good but I had higher expecations regarding this beer.

Dark Brown. A pleasant aroma of mainly malt (caramel, chocolate and coffee), subtle aromatic hops, and a hint of fruit, mainly raisins. Tastes like an Imperia Stout ought to taste. Big, rich, full malts take over providing notes of roasted and burnt grain, chocolate, coffee, caramel and burnt fruits. A note of sherry is noticable on the finish. Quite flavorful, but lacking a full body and texture.

Ebony, black and I mean black.Little layer of dark tan head.Nose?Figure your sitting in the kitchen of Godiva Chocolatiers.Expresso, dark fruits, chocolate and molasses. You want to cheat your tastebuds out of this and sniff it all night.Flavors were just as inviting as the aromas, all the above forementioned rolling over the tongue in symbionism(sp).Body is thick and laden with deliciousness and alcohol.

Pours a dark almost pitch black color. Aroma is roated with a little bit of chocolate as well. Maybe a little alcohol too. Creamy mouthfeel. Flavor is of roasted malts and sweet chocolate. Finish has a bit of an alcoholic kick. Pretty tasty. A little too much alcohol present though.

GABF2004... Jack Daniels Whiskey Barrel version... Poured an opaque black color with a light tan head and light lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast, nuts, chocolate and bourbon. And the taste was roast, strong bourbon notes, and a light bitterness. A found this too thin for an Impy.
