Chocolate truffles, cocoa, espresso coffee, burnt currants, the sweetness of a sherry - all come to mind when enjoying an Imperial Stout. A rich porter of English origin brewed to withstand the long voyage from London to Czarist Russia. The classic "Winter Warmer". Big, Strong, Malty Stout.

22 oz bottle from notes. Pours dark brown to black in color with a medium sized tan head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malts, dark chocolate, dark fruits, cocoa, splashes of coffee with a nice balance between the sweet malts and light sherry character and bitterness from the dark chocolate and roasted malts. This was a decent option back in the day, but I have not revisited it for some time.
