3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle shared at Bruce’s in London on the inaugural evening of Jack’s Farewell Tour - big thanks to Bruce! Pours black with a creamy brown head. The nose is slightly medicinal, lots of dark malts, some burnt toast, general charred malts. Medium sweet flavor, lots of booze-soaked dark fruits, sugary dark chocolate, bitter earth and baking cocoa. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish, lots of charred dark malts, strong roast, booze, dark fruits, raisins. Nice beer but certainly heavy.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Coffee chocolate and burnt wood aroma. Pours well black with coffee coloured clingy dense head. Upfront charcoal bitterness and dark chocolate followed by espresso. Medium soft mouth feel. Bitterness in the finish probably from the whisky barrels and a bit of sweetness. Complex and surprising

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle @ Beerbecue at joes, small sample. Dark color, medium frothy head. Aroma of roast, chocolate, slight whisky but not much vanilla. Soft sweetness from chocolate, bit bourbon, some coffee and roasty bitterness. Ok.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle shared @ Beerbecue by Joes. Opaque pitch black color, average to medium sized light brown head. Aroma is malts and something weird. Is that the whiskey? Flavor has the same weird hint: I get some tart with the malts, light roast and some tart-bitter. No, I don’t like it. Thin texture as well imo. Meh.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap at Taphouse CPH.
Black with a dense espresso coloured head that rests down to a thin film.
Aroma has coca cola, lots of sweetness going on, bourbon notes and chocolate pudding.
Taste has dark chocolate, loads of bitterness, a bit hot alcohol, roasted, faint bourbon, slight sweetness.
Medium body, high carbonation, dry mouth feel.
Too much bitterness and carbonation in combination with being quite thin marks this down a few notches.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours the part with an activly wild khaki head. Oak and chocolate nose. Taste has light chocolate, very faint bourbony smoke. Pretty underwhelming on many levels. Medium body.

Having the 2014 batch. Black pour from 22oz bottle at home. Smokey Carmel and sweet taste. Not getting much whiskey. Rather underwhelming after thinking I was holding a gem for a year.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
22oz bottle pours a dark brown color with a lot of frothy head. Intense harsh whiskey flavor that overpowers everything. It smooths with some time to breath.

What the hell?! Just like with Pinchy Jeek, it looks like I’m the first to buy a messed up bottle. This hot mess did not resemble an imperial stout (and I really like the base beer) or a halfway decent whiskey BA beer.
Aroma and flavor are nearly offensively astringent. Tastes and smells infected...more like a wine BA beer gone bad than a bourbon or whiskey BA stout. That distracts and ultimately completely covers up any roast or chocolate notes in this beer. So sad that I spent nearly $15 on this. It was crap. None of the 4 of us came close to finishing.
