Angeloregon (2023), Portland, Oregon, USA Aug 19, 2007 Hazy deep copper-orange with a nice white bubbly head. Spicy, fruity, hoppy gingerbread nose. Sharp multi-spiced flavor. Tastes like the holidays. Very pleasant brew! unclemattie (1717), Georgia, USA Apr 13, 2007 Gift from Irishboy. 22oz bottle. copper color. wonderful foamy eggshell colored head. Belgian aroma. hints of smoke. flavors of orange and spices. allspice and peppery. lots of straw and yeasty mustiness. nice hoppy bitter dry finish. DA (2586), Portland, Oregon City, Oregon, USA Sep 6, 2007 Very sweet upfront, i’m a bit suprised to find out the abv isn’t higher. Big bready/sweet doughy finish, lots of spice with a crisp coriander finish, but not overwhelming like some of the big coriander wits. Long finish that reminds me of some spiced rum cake or something. Ver enjoyable STRONG wit, doesn’t taste like one of the orange peel/coriander dominated wits you find everywhere. rkuhnel (1199), Eureka, California, USA Jan 6, 2007 22 oz bottle. Poured a golden amber color with a fizzy white head that left moderate lacing. Seems a little dark for a witbier, but the color was attractive. Strong nose, mostly of spices. Seems like cloves and coriander. Some fruits as well. Mouthfeel is solid, with a little fizz at the back of the throat. Citrus finish. As a witbier this come up just a tad lacking, but if you forget that and simply enjoy it as a winter holiday brew and it is pretty good. I am going to buy a bunch of these for the long winter ahead. UselessGdTaste (359), Long Beach, California, USA Dec 24, 2007 Ok...so having experimented with quite a few spiced ales and not liking any of them, I was not exactly looking forward to this beer. Turns out, it is great. Many spiced ales end up having the spice being the main focal point. This has a nice and subtle spice profile to create the warmth that is looked for in a beer this style while still maintaining drinkability. I drank the whole bottle which is something I have never done with a spiced ale.
