awaller05 (297), Marengo, Illinois, USA Jan 26, 2008 Second beer tried at MT Barrels, nice reddish hue, with a decent sized head. It definatley was a sweet smell with just a tinge of hoppiness at the end on the intake. First taste provided a fruit like taste, with again the hops just slightly making a presence at the end. The drawback to this one is that it seems way to slik in the mouth and didn’t really make me want to go back for more.
guyinchicago (276), marengo, Illinois, USA Nov 19, 2008 on tap at brewery was my second favorite at pub a liitle dissapointing they only had 4 brews on menu and it was fobab day but anyways glass came nice looking amber with nice frothy head aromas of malts, caramel and hops taste was of carameliezed malts, hops nothing to rave about average brew Narnad (168), Wonder Lake, Illinois, USA Oct 25, 2008 Arrived to the table withe a thick white head, dark amber in color and left awesome lacing on the glass. Aroma had a slight sour aroma with an earthy hops aroma. Very malty up front with sweet hints of caramel but the hops take over fairly fast and produce a nice grassy flavor to the beers middle and end flavor. Very smooth beer. A good beer but nothing stands out as extraordinary but also nothing bad by any standards. thedm (3407), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Jun 26, 2008 This draft brew from the brewery poured a foamy head of fine to medium sized tan colored bubbles that left behind an uncarbonated copper brown colored body and a good lacing. The mouth feel was crisp and mildly tingly from start to finish. The mild aroma was of copper and brown malts. The flavor was mild astringent sweet and brown malt. gws57 (1003), Saint Charles, Illinois, USA Jan 3, 2008 Had this one on draught at the brewpub in West Dundee, Illinois. Clear, dark ruby-red pour with a foamy, tan head (nice heads on all these beers, by the way) malty nose, chocolaty with a smooth, sweet coffee flavor in there. Watery finish, though. Pretty blah.
