thedm (3407), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Jun 27, 2008 This draft brew from the brewery poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized brown colored mostly lasting bubbles that left behind an opaque dark ruby red brown colored body with no visible carbonation. The aroma was mild with dark malty notes. The mouth feel was tingly and crisp from start to finish with a brown malt aftertaste. The flavor contained notes of medium dark malt semi-sweets.
guyinchicago (276), marengo, Illinois, USA Nov 19, 2008 On tap at brew house was a very standard american porter with all the the right qualities also was thier best brew awaller05 (297), Marengo, Illinois, USA Jan 26, 2008 Started with this beer while sitting a MT barrels, probably was the best beer I had all night. A strong presence of caramel with a finish of coffee. Definate taste of roasted malts with very little bitterness. Right now, in my opinion, this is the best beer MT Barrels has on tap right now. gws57 (1003), Saint Charles, Illinois, USA Jan 3, 2008 Had this one on draught at the brewpub in West Dundee, Illinois. Clear, dark brown pour, foamy light brown head, mild malty nose, smoky very early fades into a nice bitter chocolate, with an astringent, rubbery finish. Good, but this one was all over the place. Cornfield (4412), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Oct 24, 2007 Nice pour, a deep mahogany body with ruby highlights and a decent beige head. It has an aroma of lightly roasted malts, a bit of barley, a chunk of chocolate, and a whiff of hard fruits. Maybe a bit thin, it nonetheless delivers smooth roasted flavors with an underlying dark malty sweetness balanced out by a light nutty/earthy bitterness. Pretty nice.

M.T. Barrels Restaurant and Brewery, West Dundee, IL
