I was so disapointed with the lack of bitterness in the Begbie Pale, that I am now convinced I purchased bottles of Begbie that were miss-labeled. The cream ale had of the rich bitterness the pale should have, and the pale had the creaminess that this one should have. Oh so confused.....

Poured a clear medium gold colour with an average sized foamy white head; not much lacing in evidence here. Aroma was faint, maybe a touch of hop here and there. Taste was pleasant enough, but nothing remarkable; smooth, clean and a bit of hop but I don’t think "cream" is a word for this one.

This beer has the look of clean brand new motor oil, light tan with a touch of orange with some slight haze, a creamy thin cap floated on top being constantly replenished by a steady stream of bubbles floating to the top not to bad looking of a beer. Smell is slightly disappointing sour with a touch of malt very mild aroma that I’m not enjoying there is a slight hop presence and I think that is where the sourness is coming from, this beer is getting a 5 on aroma only because the aroma is so weak that the horrible aroma it has isn’t coming through to strongly what would have made me lower it more. Taste is rather smooth bready with some roasted character to it, it has a crisp vegetable soup like flavor to start and finishes with a creamy breadiness, the after taste is slightly bitter, you can notice very mild hops is the flavor and I believe that is what I am tasting when I say vegetable soup. Enjoyable beer to drink but nothing all that exciting I would drink this beer again if someone gave it to me but would probly never buy it on my own ever again. Review done while watch CSI Las Vegas

Pours into the lager glass a hazy yellow/orange. Head is small and white. Aroma is slightly sour, citrusy, soft fruits, grains and brown sugar. Tastes of peaches, brown sugar and some citrus back notes. Mouth feel is soft, not too heavy, not too light, nice carbonation. Really not knocking my socks off, but a decent drinkable beer.

Very little aroma. Does not look like a cream ale. This is only okay. The flavor is light. Not real creamy. Just not very interesting to me.

650 ml bottle from Sherbrooke Liquor (Edmonton), served cool in a wine glass. JN 09/08.

App.: Clear golden with remnants of a white head. Aroma: Apricots, grains and cereal, some light caramel and golden syrup, other vague fruitiness, smells sweet. Palate: Medium+ body, moderate effervescence. Flav.: Much like the nose – apricots, non-descript fruits, light caramel and golden syrup, sweet flavours without a really sweet taste; off-dry to semi-sweet, not even a hint of bitterness, leaves a touch of floral honey.

Boring.

Bomber courtesy of CBA. Pours out highly filtered golden colour with minor head and lacing. Nose- honey sweetness and cooked vegetables. Taste- smooth, a little nutty and the creaminess of the mouthfeel is very much there. Metallic finish and that cooked vegetable again. Drinkability is high- good session brew.

[997-20071223] 650mL (w/ GregClow, jerc). Smells like sheep lanolin or wet wool, skunky wheat and a hint of peas. Clear, orange amber body with a quick foamy off-white head. Sweet honeyed grain flavour. Medium body is grainy and watered down. Not impressive.
