[3831-20110723] 650mL bottle. Citrus hops aroma. Clear, amber orange body with a quick foamy white head. More citrus malt in the flavour with a lingering bittersweet buttery note. Medium body is fairly bitter. Tasty. (8/3-/7/3/14~) 3.5

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
2011-07-23. Crisp amber body with a nice creamy beige head. 3+ Resiny caramel aroma, modest green hop character. Flavour is similar, resiny hops, sweet caramel malt with biscuity toasty malt accents. Mild green hops. Not much in the way of citrus to the hop character, perhaps they have diminished slightly while in the cellar. Mild bitterness throughout. Average plus palate has pleasantly soft carbonation. Enjoyable. Bottle from the LCBO, Toronto

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
I’ll continue the trend for reviewing this beer by describing the underwear I’m currently wearing, boxer-briefs with dark blue legs and butt, with a light blue elastic waist band. Body is brownish gold with hints of red, nice crown to. Seems to me this has the typical IPA aroma’s and it also seems to be of quality, fuzzy peach, sweet sugary malts, simple and yum. Taste is better and has more complexity to it. Good thick toffee, pine, peach, roasted yum. Nice balance between sweet beginnings and a bitter finish. Picking out lots of floral notes now with leather showing up in the finish. Probably the best Mt. Begbie beer I’ve had. Beer was my very first father’s day gift from my son, not sure how a 4 month old was able to but a beer though………….

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Actually a phenomenal IPA. The pour is dark orange with amber notes and a thick foamy white head. The head dissapates into almost nothing. The aroma is hop forward with a ton of grapefruit and citrus fruity notes. A moderate caramel and biscuity malt is also apparent in the nose. The middle is sweet and malty with light grapefruit fruity taste. Body is medium with no carbonation and a sticky mouthfeel. The finish is moderately bitter (definately not huge hop bomb) with a large grapefruit hop. Overall, a really nice IPA and a bit of a surprise from Mount Begbie.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
It pours a deep amber color with a 1 finger white head that vanishes to a thin cap. It has a medium amount of carb and some real fine lacing.
The aroma is dominated by citrus notes and I want to say even a little pine.
The flavor is bang on, I am getting carmel, floral and a vast amount of pine notes from the hoppers. It is nice and well balanced and nothing that is too over powering. The alcohol is so hidden in the beer
It finishes with a touch dry and a lingering bitterness, it just makes you want to reach back for more. I have to confess that it reminds me of 90min by Dogfish head. I think by far the best beer I have tried from this group.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
650ml brown bottle. Dark gold-orange in colour. Displays a nice creamy, full looking off white head. Nice clinging lace. Sweet orange aroma with some spicy pine and grapefruit notes. Has a bit of candy sweetness up front, but has decent malts and juicy orange notes. Soft lingering graefruit-like bitterness, dryish finish, fairly clean. Medium bodied, medium carbonation. Decent tasting, tamer and less intense than a lot of IPAs on the shelf in Alberta right now but very drinkable and definately the direction Mt Begbie should head in.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, 22oz, thx to Enjoyit. A clear, amber beer with a small, off-white head. Pleasant aroma with some lemon peel and a good dash or tropical fruits. Not much on the malty side. The flavor has some bitterness, but is a bit one-tracked on the lemon-peel side. Grapefruit notes and a grassy touch too. Full-bodied and dry, a bit low on carbonation. A decent one, but lacks on most things. 110129
