Draft sample. Pours near black in color with a small beige head. The aroma was, well, strong coffee with additional chocolate and roasted malts. The flavor was more coffee, roasted malts and chocolate, but surprisingly well done. The chocolate adds a creamy quality against the strong coffee flavors. The carbonation was a bit flat or this could have really been excellent. Medium plus body and smooth mouth feel. I want more beers like this from our local breweries.

Draft at Gordo’s, served in a pint glass. Pours a deep brown that’s opaque for the most part but clearer on the edges with a bit of tan film for a head. Decent aroma but the flavor improves upon it; coffee, dark chocolate, earth, and toast. Finishes on a long, bitter coffee note. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a smooth, bitter mouthfeel. Delivers on its promise.

Hits hard, but smooth. Nice blend of coffee and traditional stout flavors. Well made stout

Draft sample at Jungle Jims also labeled "3rd Shift." Wow, was this great. Buckets of coffee, sweet malt and chocolate. Big depth of flavor and silky smooth mouthfeel. Great beer.

Really went into this one expexting average, like most of Mt. Carmel. I was blown away. There is a battle between hops and High Quality roasted malts, dark chocolate, and rich coffee going on in here. Very subtle hints of vanilla and caramel come out and the oil slick on top is a real nice bonus.

went into this one with no expectations, as it was a surprise to me at beerfest. nice dark color with a roasty aroma. Coffee. Chocolate. It’s well blended together though, flavorwise. well balanced and drinkable. great beer! gotta go get a growler soon...

Growler to glass (thanks jmborggren). Looks good; pitch black with low carbonation and thin lacing. Smells solid; malt and coffee. Tastes GOOD! A nicely balanced imp coffee stout that’s pleasant on the palate. My favorite Mt. Carmel beer!

Snifter in the new tasting room at the brewery. This beer is also known as "3rd Shift". Nice, thick creamy tan head. Good rich but well-blended coffee nose. Big chewy body. Crisp carbonation, more dry texture. Big, satisfying roasty coffee aroma. Light hop notes. Not too bitter, very smooth and creamy flavor. Slightly viscous in the aftertaste. Clear very dark brown color. Enjoyable brew.
