Dark tan color, just a shade darker than Newkie, 1.5 finger light tan head, settles to 1/4" layer. Aroma malty, brown sugar, maybe a little pepper. Good balance, toasty, malty, a touch of maple, some alcohol. A kiss of hops at the end---maybe English variety or Willamette. Goes well with pizza.

Draft sample at flip daddy’s. Pours dark cola brown with purple hue. Nose funky malt, almost like raw meat. One sweet malt. Taste sweet malt, smoother mouth feel, then late palate Pleasing nuttiness. Thankfully tastes better than it smells.

Draft. Deep ruby purple color, thick beige head with solid lacing. Aroma of dusty brownies with walnuts. Taste is cocoa powder, ground nuts. Nice.

Mt. Carmel Nut Brown Ale has a medium, fluffy, cream-colored head, a sort of brilliant rust-red-brown appearance, and a lace curtain left on the glass. The aroma is of sweetness, maybe some syrup, malt, and possibly a bright fruit of some sort. Taste is of sweetness, a touch of syrup, brown bread crust, and a noticeable, somewhat unpleasant bitterness, like one will get from pecan shell. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Mt. Carmel Brown Ale finishes semi-wet and easy drinking. RJT

Bottle. Hazelnut and light chocolate malt aroma. Medium brown with moderate tan head. Light sweet chocolate malt, hay, and mildly bitter herbal flavor. Not bad.

Nice caramel color, tan head. Malty taste, well balanced. Lacking an aroma of any kind.

Twelve ounce bottle from Mt. Carmel sampler 12 pack bought at Delhi Kroger. Sweer malty nose, dark brown hue, medium tan head that slowly departed leaving little lacing, sweet malty flavor that is undercut by too much astringency. This is the least impressive beer I’ve had to date from the usually reliable Mt. Carmel Brewery.

Pours a medium-dark brown, small amount of off-white foam, dissipates quickly. Aroma is weak, malty and sweet. Taste is pretty weak, not much going on, but a hint of cigarette ash. Seriously, I wonder if I got one that went bad. This stuff is not good.

Sweet up front, then followed with bitterness. Not much in between. A slightly sweeter finish and a bigger body would be preferable. The booze is hidden fairly well. Fairly sessionable.

Pour from a 12 oz bottle. Beautiful reddish amber brew, clear and luminous when held up to the light. Nice tan head that hangs on. Creamy head with lacing. Aroma of sweet malt, light toast, nutty overtones, a hint of maple. Starts out sweet, malty, then toasty, verges on a burnt taste, then earthy / nuts and finally ends sweet and malty. Well crafted, tastes nice, very sweet - I’d prefer a touch of (or more) bittering in the finish.

Taste is creamy, rich walnut, hazelnut...chocolate.
