Bottle from Ty. Dark coffee nose and thick pour. Oak hints upfront and coffee to follow. Almost burnt malt and grain aftertaste though. ---Rated via my mouth

Aroma is coffee dominant with some light bitter chocolate, hops are very light at best and appear to be resiny, but that is to be expected. Appearance is black with thin, sustained mocha head. Flavor matches the nose; the finish continues with substantial coffee roast. Palate is oily/slightly chewy and the body is light/medium. A very drinkable stout, but not outstanding in any one area.

12oz bottle - pours black with a finger of tan head and thin lacing. Nose is roast coffee from two feet away. flavor adds nothing. Light sweetness and moderate bitterness. Medium body with stickiness. Very easy to drink. Dictionary definition of stout and nothing more.

Pours black with a dark brown head. Scent is sweet, light baked chocolate. Taste is dark chocolate, a little roast coffee. Malty, not bitter at all. Very mild, but also quite tasty. A great, simple little stout. A good anytime beer....nice.

Bottle to pint. Looks good; pitch black with low carbonation and thin lacing. Smells solid; malty and roasty. Tastes pretty good too; much like it smells with coffee notes. Mouthfeel is average. A solid local stout!

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle. The aroma is of sweet chocolate and caramel. The flavor was similar but the firm roasted character made it a coffee like. A tasty stout.

From notes. First reviewed 12/25/2010. Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. This one is a gusher. Even with a gentle pour, a huge brown bubbly head furies on top of the beer. Somehow, there is almost no retention, though. After just a few seconds there is nothing on top of the glass. Midnight black in color with a tint of ruby where some light can sneak through. Coffee, roasted chocolate malt, and cocoa powder provide for a relatively basic aroma. A quick dash of roasted malt, but cocoa and roast coffee flavors really dominate the taste. A touch of grapefruit rind and some herbal notes complement the bitter coffee flavor. Lightly sticky, medium body, full bubbly carbonation. This really didnít do it for me. I was happy to have tried it, but there were just too many disjointed parts to this beer.

Poured into a snifter. 3.5 A: Black color. One fingers of creamy medium brown head. Retention is below average and a small ring of lacing is left. 4.5 S: Really surprised by how good this smells. Moderate roastines. Dark caramel malts mesh well with coffee tones. Smokiness to round things off. Really smooth, well integratied aromas. 3.5 T: Damn, disappointment in the taste. Itís not bad, but the nose lead me on a little. Smokiness with dark crystal malts and coffee again, but less sweet than I was expecting. A slight, almost acrid, burntness, but it isnít necessarily that bad. 3.5 M: Light to light medium body. Good moderate carbonation. I wish it were creamier, but itís not bad for the body. Smooth. 3.5 D: Not a bad beer, but not interesting enough to make me want to buy it again. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 11-10-2011 02:48:50

Bottle. The pour was jet black with a slight dark brown hue around the edges and had an average sized (1-2 finger) light brown frothy head, that reduced quickly to just a thin layer of residue which produced a bit of fair lacing. The aroma was of a roasted grain malt and a mild leathery yeast with notes of chocolate, coffee and molasses with just a hint of dark fruit. The taste was lightly sweet and a bit bitter with notes of chocolate and molasses throughout with a strong coffee note somewhere in between with a nice pronounced dark fruit presence at the end. The flavor hung on for a decent amount of time which allowed the fruity coffee flavor to be fully enjoyed. Mouthfeel was just a tad beyond medium in body with the texture being creamy and a little oily and having an almost flat carbonation. Overall a nice robust Stout, with a unique fruity finish.

Bottle or tap I canít remember. This was pretty impressive, especially from a brewery I had never heard of until this festival. Really well blended flavors of chocolate and coffee. Milk chocolate mouthfeel. Nice
