does not count FLP62 (6), USA Oct 13, 2007 Black appearance with a nice brown head. Chocolatey coffee notes that balance really well with the creamy body. Nice and heavy, like a stout should be. Great in front of an outdoor fire. Winner.
StFun (367), Indiana, USA Aug 19, 2008 What a hell of a beer. Me and the GF picked this one up from Jungle Jims on our last Cincy trip. Bought it mostly just because I’m a growler whore and wanted to try something new. Didn;t have big expectations for this one at all, and figured it would be average at best. Boy, was I wrong. Now, you’d never mistake this for Dark Lord or Expedition or Speedway, but I bet this one would hold its own against ANY of the non-imperial stouts out there! This one is delicious. Very black and rich. Creamy mouthfeel. A strong nuttiness in the aroma and flavor. Fresh coffe in the mix, as well as hints of chocolate and dark candy. Some carmel and roasted barley floating around as well. Nice and thick. Clings to the mouth the way melted chocolate does. Leaves an aftertaste almost like hot chocolate. I was very impressed, and at 6%, drank the whole growler in one setting. Will be getting more for sure next time I am in Cincy! BuckeyeBoy (1211), Boise, Idaho, USA Jun 22, 2008 #1000 On tap at Jungle Jims Spring Brew Fest. Pours out a almost black topped with a nice tan head. A nice sweet aroma of coffee and dark chocolate. tast more of the sweetness and some bitter dark. Also a nice roast malt on it. I am happy to have a small local brew as my 1K. GMUcrew7 (236), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Mar 29, 2008 Half gallon bottle, pours very nice deep brown/black, with very tan head. Aroma is overwhelmingly coffee and chocolate. A roasted mocha flavor is the best way to describe the flavor. The body is somewhat light, one of the low points of an otherwise great beer. Dogbrick (2358), Columbus, Ohio, USA Feb 15, 2008 Growler from Party Source. Pours an opaque black color with a medium thick and foamy tan head that diminishes slowly. Patchy lacing on the glass. Roasted malt and coffee in the nose, plus a hint on anise. Rich and creamy body with a nice roasted character. Flavors of sweet malt, milk chocolate and coffee are all present along with a bit of hops. The finish is roasty with a coffee aftertaste. Pretty good all around. yobdoog (414), Montclair NJ - Woodridge NY, New York, USA Feb 1, 2008 Thanks dickinsonbeer, growler. Pretty good. Aroma of black licorice and some rich coffee. Taste is sweet roasted malts and creamy coffee.
