Pours reddish brown with a tan head. Smells of caramel, roses. Tastes of sweet malt, some spicy hints, nutty. Not much going on.

UPDATED: DEC 14, 2013 12 oz. bottle from Ludlow Wines. Pours clear dark brown with a reddish tint and a small off-white head. Aroma of nutmeg, banana, spices, caramel malts, brown sugar, and a little earthy note. Flavor is sweet, with caramel malts, banana, brown sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger, spices, and toast. Light-medium bodied, with light carbonation and a slightly sticky mouthfeel. Sweet finish. Pretty good. Re-rate: Better than I remembered. Nice spice-hop-malt balance. Good body, not overly spicy.

Pours a clear dark amber with a lasting, one finger white head. Immediately hit with chocolate with caramel and dry roasted coffee. Pretty good on this cold evening.

12 oz. bottle (label says 8% not 6%). Pours a clear deep reddish copper color with a fine beige head. The aroma was caramel malt with some spice and earthy (herbal)hops. The flavor is a well blended mixture of caramel malt and earthy hops. Moderately sweet to start with a dry bitterness in the finish. There isn’t a singular spice I can pick out, but there is enough there to be a presence. Medium bodied with a smooth mouthfeel. This is a nice beer to end a cold evening with. Actually, the malts are coming out a bit more as I continue to type and drink. Is this the same beer that had 4 ratings all from prior to 2009? There are clear differences in the stated ABV.

3/12/2008: Mt. Carmel Winter Ale is dark brown, hazy, and has a creamy beige head and solid lacing. The chocolate aroma gives way to flavors of ginger and cinnamon spice along with undertones of oranges. This beer has a medium body, soft mouthfeel, and is slightly dry overall. I enjoyed this Winter beer and hope that they make it again in the future.

Pint (draught) at Dilly Deli in Mariemont, Ohio. Rating #4 for this beer.

growler from Jungle Jims. Flavor is hickory smoke, mild hops, poured over wet wood. The best thing going for it may be the thick malty body, but not much else. Nah.

On draught at the Dilly Deli. The beer pours a murky dark amber-brown color with a medium off-white head that diminishes steadily. Rings of lacing on the glass. Spicy aroma of ginger with mild hops and malt behind it. Medium-bodied with a sweet spiced character of ginger and nutmeg. Lightly bitter hops and sweet malt are present as well. The finish is moderately spicy and leaves a sweet fruity aftertaste. Pretty good all around.

Draft at Dilly Deli. Poured hazy reddish brown color with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate nutmeg root, citrus peels and licorice aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture. Heavy spicy bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet spicy finish of moderate duration. Better then my expectations.
