Commercial Description:
Copper-hued and aromatic with Pacific Northwest-grown hops, Cloudcap is a rich and satisfying classic example of Pacific Northwest Amber Ale. The addition of hops at three different stages of the kettle boil, and careful attention to conditioning temperatures, give Cloudcap its special creamy, clean, and lightly fruity flavor. This is Mt. Hood Brewing Co.'s original ale. O.G. 1.054/ 5.0% abv/ Mt. Hood, Cascade, Willamette hops/ Four different malts.

Bright dark copper colour. Caramel and earth-accented aroma with woody hop notes. Herbal, fruity hop accent with light balancing earthy, chewy malts. Quite a well-made example while staying true to the mellowness of the style.

Sampled draught at Mt Hood Brewing, Government Camp
Amber color, tan head, nice lacing. Nose of grassy hops & gingerbread malts. Nicely caramelly with a balanced finish. Eh.

Mahogany with light foamy lace and head. Caramel nose with toasted malts. Orange citrus. Flavor contains caramel malts with some roast. Bitter and citrus hops. Silky palate with a slight bitter tail.

Better than most as far as amber ales go. A nice hop profile highlights the toasted maltiness and caramel flavors with some piney herbal characters. Decent and nicely balanced.
