Commercial Description:
Mt Hood brewed this beer special for a group of Estonian visiting the Mt Hood Area in August. It’s brewed with barley malt, junipers and very few hops. It is brewed in the style of koduõlu, the traditional beer style on the Estonian island of Saaremaa. It is similar to Finnish sahti.

I had this one at the 2003 Oregon Brewer’s Fest. One of the more unique brews I have had. A pale cloudy beer with flavors of banana, malt, juniper. With notes from the Mt. Hood brewmaster I tried homebrewing (it flopped).

I didn't get quiet as excited as others over this beer, but never the less it was still good. Only avialable at OBG 2003. It looked like milk tea but had an interesting nose of plantain. The body was complex and consisted of a banana sundae, cloves, mud and earth with a sharp banana finish. It was very nice, but I wouldn’t want to drink this all night.

The best beer at the OBF. A cloudy straw color with a white head. The aroma is sour with some banana. Really more like banana bread. The banana fades and leave a fruity almost apple-like flavor. Very nice soft palate. Needed more time with this beer to fully appreciate its complexity.

Aroma of fruit and some grains. Cloudy dark yellow. Lots of esters but still balanced with bitterness. Very complex and interesting. Great aftertaste. Hope to see more estonian beers!

Tatsed at the 2003 OBF. Light coffee and cream color, very cloudy. Medium head. Aroma is fruity and banana esters. Like liquid banana bread. Lighter bodied beer. Banana and/or plantain esters, very fruity. Very smooth tasting. More fruit than malts, yet there is a nice malt backbone hidden in all that fruit. Light and refreshing. It hides the 6.25% ABV very well. Interesting stuff, thanks to the Oregon Brewers Guild for bringing this beer to the festival. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is sweet. Was the highlight of the 2003 OBF for me.
