COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mt. Hood's version of a British-style brown porter; deep red-black in color, but transparent when held to the light. This is the beer to ask for when you want a rich, dark and satisfying beer that's not too sweet or thick. The aroma from a glass of Multorporter is at first roasty, then malty, followed by a unique delicate balance of spicy hops and smoke. Bitterness in the flavor is provided by hops and roasted barley. Fruity esters and a hint of butterscotch are barely evident and help to marry the stronger flavors and aromas into an exceptionally well-rounded ale... not too sweet, not too roasty, not too heavy... it's just right! O.G. 1.054/ 5.0% abv/ Magnum, Mt. Hood, Willamette hops/ Five different malts, including peated malt.

On tap at Kells Irish Pub in Portland. The last beer of the night. Pours a dark brown color with a large off white head. The aroma is heavy chocolate, roast and light peat. A sweet very big flavor with roast, chocolate and ash, fruity hops, light smoke. Very good and rich.

Draft @ Mt.Hood - Pours a black/brown. Smell is roasted malts, light smoke and chocolate. Flavor is lightly sweet mixed with the smoke, roasted malts and some dark cocoa. Quite nice in the smoked beer category. I enjoyed this one a good bit after a long day of skiing.

Draught. Dark red/black with medium ecru head. Pleasant aroma with malt and smoke. Medium body, not quite as full as a smoked porter, but fuller than the average porter. Malty finish.

Sample at the brewpub. Pours nearly black with a thin and compact beige head that recedes steadily. Dense spotty pattern of lacing. The aroma is mildly roasty with smoked malt and coffee. Medium body with flavors of chocolate malt, coffee, and a touch of hops. Smoke is subtle throughout. The finish is caramel and smoked malt with a short coffee aftertaste. Doesn’t really hold a candle to Alaskan but a decent beer in its own right.

Had this on cask at the Ice Axe Grill at Government Camp, OR. Colour... very dark brown! Nose... light roasted malt and smoke. Palate... light body, nicely smoked, roasty malt and a lengthy smoky finish. I’m not a major fan of rauchbiers (sp?), and the like, but this was pretty nice.

Actually quite liked this. A very complex malt body, tastes like a variety of grains. Strong roasted back, with a good hop profile, and wonderfully balanced.

On tap @ Jake’s Crawfish House in Portland. Moderately dark brown color with sparse light tan head. Decent chocolate and coffee notes on the aroma, mild roast underneath. Taste is relatively mild, maybe bland with a very mild roast component. Decent porter.
