Ungstrup (11713), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 21, 2008 Draft. A brown beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel, and so is the flavor with a bitter finish from the roasted malt. Oakes (7032), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Aug 1, 2006 Medium brown. Aroma is chocolatey, toffeeish and very slightly smokey. Up front smokey on the palate, though, with toffee and light chocolate coming in late. Finishes sweet with a brown sugar and ester note. argo0 (6289), Washington DC, USA Jul 26, 2005 Clear red-black body topped by a tan head. Aroma is medium sweet, chocolate, nutty, some caramel. Taste is medium sweet, caramel, chocolate. Smooth medium body with low carbonation. Where is the smoke? BückDich (4605), Boise, Idaho, USA Mar 9, 2005 Sampled draught at Mt Hood Brewing, Government Camp
Dark ruby/tawny color with light tan head & some average lacing. Nose of raspberry coffee cake & roast. The smoke level is in between beech & mesquite, cheery & wholesome, summer sausage & cheese, the flavor is very smooth & smoky. Nice porter, finishes a bit dry. Brilliant! acrdz (4492), Boulder, Colorado, USA Jul 21, 2005 Brown with some red or burgundy light at the bottom of the glass. Starchy, dusty malt nose: dry and coarse like a dry stout. The body (this is nitro) is creamy and semi-thin... flavor is tinny, yet again, and has some light toasted bread crust and chocolate. A simple porter, but still tasty. Was this supposed to be a smoked? Because it’s more like a simple Guinness-clone dry stout. No smoked qualities at all in my opinion.
