COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mt. Hood's version of a British-style brown porter; deep red-black in color, but transparent when held to the light. This is the beer to ask for when you want a rich, dark and satisfying beer that's not too sweet or thick. The aroma from a glass of Multorporter is at first roasty, then malty, followed by a unique delicate balance of spicy hops and smoke. Bitterness in the flavor is provided by hops and roasted barley. Fruity esters and a hint of butterscotch are barely evident and help to marry the stronger flavors and aromas into an exceptionally well-rounded ale... not too sweet, not too roasty, not too heavy... it's just right! O.G. 1.054/ 5.0% abv/ Magnum, Mt. Hood, Willamette hops/ Five different malts, including peated malt.

I had this down at Kell’s in Portland. I wasn’t expecting much, and the Murphy’s I was drinking was doing the trick just fine. I thought I would just go for another rating. This is possibly one of the best porters I’ve had. Great roasted malt taste with appropriate hops balance. I can tell a lot of work went into this beer. Sadly, I believe this beer will probably go under the radar to most beer lovers who drink in Oregon.

Have to agree with you Murph (portlandrunk). Just took a little 4 day swing over to Central Oregon, and stopped at Mt. Hood Brewing on the way. This poured a deep brown, with a tannish head. Nice malty aroma, sweet flavors, but not overpoweringly so. A slightly fruity middle, and small bitter finish make this a top notch porter.

Brown with mahogany edges. Tan head and stringy lace. Smoke and chocolate in the nose as well as some raost. Light and underlying tones of smoke in the flavor. Chocolate and roast accompany that. Finishes smoky and full of chocolate. I love smoked beers such as this.

Black with medium vanilla head, reddish highlights. Not much aroma until you take a sip and the roasty smoked malt flavor comes out clearly.

Sampled draught at Mt Hood Brewing, Government Camp
Dark ruby/tawny color with light tan head & some average lacing. Nose of raspberry coffee cake & roast. The smoke level is in between beech & mesquite, cheery & wholesome, summer sausage & cheese, the flavor is very smooth & smoky. Nice porter, finishes a bit dry. Brilliant!

On tap at Kells Irish Pub in Portland. The last beer of the night. Pours a dark brown color with a large off white head. The aroma is heavy chocolate, roast and light peat. A sweet very big flavor with roast, chocolate and ash, fruity hops, light smoke. Very good and rich.

Dark brown with a tan head that sticks to the side of the glass with very nice lacing. Chocolate, light roast, and some subtle salty smoke. Sweet initially with some chocolate and roasted malts, smoke follows but is nice and subtle. Body is creamy. Notes say good with an exclamation point.

Served in the Imperial pint glass at Kell’s Pub in Portland. What I can make out in the dimlight, thisnis a nice darkbrown almost mahogany coloured ale with a smallish creamy tan head. I could not make out much aroma, just some maltiness , I think It was sderved too cold, or maybe the Lebanese food I ate earlier interfered. This was a very enjoyable porter thout a little unusual in the flavour , it has all the coffee/ dark chocolate flavours expected but also a rather sharp fruity undertaste, which was good, also you can get a little hop bite near the end of the mouthful. Very nice and quite smooth on the palate. A nice drinkable beer ( had 3 pints in quick order).
