Black with medium vanilla head, reddish highlights. Not much aroma until you take a sip and the roasty smoked malt flavor comes out clearly.

Aug 21, 2008 Dark with red ruby highlights and faint white head. Minimal roasty aroma. Not a robust porter but well balanced between dry roast and malt sweetness. Not highly hopped.

Aug 9, 2008 Draft at the brewpub. Black color with a light tan head. Smells like a mild rauchbier. Tastes like a mild rauchbier. Mayhap a little coffee in the slightly sweet finish. Excellent.

Jul 8, 2008 Dark brown with a tan head that sticks to the side of the glass with very nice lacing. Chocolate, light roast, and some subtle salty smoke. Sweet initially with some chocolate and roasted malts, smoke follows but is nice and subtle. Body is creamy. Notes say good with an exclamation point.

Jun 21, 2008 Draft. A brown beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel, and so is the flavor with a bitter finish from the roasted malt.

Jun 19, 2008 Tap... Poured black with a light brown, frothy head. Aroma of roasted chocolate and faint malt. Well carbonated, flavors of mild, leafy hops and malt-like grains that mesh with roasted coffee and chocolate flavors. Foamy towards the finish and a little bit of a soapy aftertaste.
