COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pittock Scotch Ale is deep garnet-red in color, mildly hopped, intensely caramel-malt flavored– with peaty malt overtones. This is the "single malt" of ales. Like its cousin, barleywine, Scotch ale is very strong, and its flavor and aroma go through several transformations during conditioning and aging. A portion of each batch of Pittock is held for extended aging to be blended back into future batches. O.G. 1.085/ 8.5% abv/ Mt. Hood, Willamette, and East Kent Goldings hops/ Nine different malts and rolled oats/ hybrid fermentation (ale yeast, lager temperatures).

Amber with a creamy head and tan spots of lace. Caramel with a touch of spice. Floral hops and alcohol. The flavor mimics the nose with a little more alcohol apparent. Sweet and malty end.

Sampled draught at Mt Hood Brewing, Government Camp
Ruby mahogany color, creamy off-white head, spotty lacing. Nose of sweet scotch and oaky caramel. The hops are nicely balanced with some powerful medicinal phenols. Finishes sweet & tangy. Eh, overspoken, kinda hot.

Just what the doctor ordered after spending most of the day on my a$$ learning how to snowboard. Reminded me of a bock on steroids. Hoping to run into the barleywine on the next trip.

Now this is good scotch. Rich and satisfying, but not one dimensionally sweet like some...slight smokiness is appropriate and fine. Definitely a cold weather, chapped lips kinda beer.

Not for everybody but definitely for me. Had it at the brewery and it was fabulous. As rich as anything. Strong alcohol nose and heavy malt flavors. I highly recommend this brewery and the mountain that it sits on. Absolutely beautiful!

Very interesting and complex brew. I had this one at the brewery after a long day of skiing and ice climbing...the small usage of peated malt enhances this brew tremendously. Good balance with very little hop accent; rather, the malt is the showpiece of the beer. Very strong, but the alcohol isnt annoying.

Nice aroma. Very strong ale. Light hops, very malty.
