COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An American style wheat mixed with blackberry juice and a touch of our Steam Engine Stout to create this dark fruity ale

We donít want to toot our own horn, but we will anyway. This brew is another top seller. Created by accident, a chance blending of raspberry wheat and stout, we recreated this crowd pleaser for distribution. Call it a mad scientist production, call it a miracle, call it dumb luck if you want; we call it serendipity. To those that claim they can only drink one fruit beer or that they donít enjoy them at all, please give this one a try. The blackberries are deliciously subtle giving this wheat ale/stout blend just that little something extra that keeps them coming back for more. Easy drinking by itself or, like the raspberry wheat, a great beer to enjoy with dessert.

Draft pour. Reddish-brown in color, opaque. Leaves a touch of lacing. Blackberries in the nose with some roasted malt aroma. Medium in body, smooth, with a short palate-cleaning finish. Sweet with blackberries and balanced with a touch of roasted/earthy bitterness. Unique. Enjoyable as a summer brew!

On tap. Pours dark brown with a white head; looks very cola-like. Aroma has some roast and hints of berries and sweetness. Flavor has a smoky roastiness with juicy dark berry flavor that gets stronger as it warms. Quite enjoyable.

Strykzone (4933) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - APR 19, 2010
Sampled at Schlaflyís repeal. This beer poured quite reddish with just a tiny head. It was very sour with dry bitterness. Blackberry notes were strong and nice. The blackberry was the saving grace here. It fell short otherwise.

Purpel pour with foamy light purple head and lace. Berry dominates the nose. Sour berry flavor with a sweet sour finish. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Just lacking in flavor and aroma.

this is a distint rating taken during michigan winter beer festival, 2009...unfortunately, notes were not taken on most of these beers, but numbers are accurate.

Reddish brown pour. Lots of berries and malt in the aroma. Flavor is too sweet...tons of fruit and sugar. Over the top.

Tessic (842) - Brantford, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 6, 2009
This fruit beer poured a dark brown colour with next to no head, even after a vigorous pour. To the nose there are scents of ripe fruit, grapes, jam and sugar. First taste is very sharp with a slight bitterness followed by a strong blackberry flavour. Flavours of wine, jam and sour grapes. Finish is bitter with just the blackberry flavour lingering. Very sour palate.

Bottle. Ruby brown clear body. Off-white head that is fully diminishing. Aroma if heavy on berries and light candy and fresh grain. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly bitter and moderately acidic. Light to medium body, watery texture that turns a little syrupy in the finish and moderate to lively carbonation. Like a berry drink that turns bitter/sour/acidic. Itís a blackberry sweet tart except the flavors arenít working together well.

In bottle. I was hopeful about this beer, and thought the aroma was promising. Then I tasted it and was sad. It tasted bitter, but not in a fun hop way. And I couldnít taste berries. I donít think I have found a fruit beer with such an extreme contrast between aroma and taste.
