I should enter another beer, as this is bourbon barrel aged. Hoppy and boozy with enough flavor to flat out kill it with flavor. Pretty good brew from an unknown brewery. Awesomeness!

12 oz bottle. Pours a very deep red brown with a light tan head. Floral, herbal, grassy hops in the aroma with a toasty malt background. Roasty pine herbal flavors. Well made and tasty.

Bottle to half-pint glass (shared with the Mrs.). Looks solid; a translucent dark cola with ample foamy light beige lacing. Smells of dark malt, roast, and bitter hops. Tastes like it smells, but less robust, with an average mouthfeel. Still, a solid Black IPA.

This IPA poured a deep, dark amber colour with a frothy, tan head. Scents include roasted malt, grassy hops and caramel. First swig had medium/ high carbonation with flavours of Melloids coughdrops, Burnt toast, coffee and spruce hops. Finsh is burnt with a nice hop bitterness lingering.

pours unclear light brown reddish with a tall frothy light beige head, good retention and lacing. very spicy and spicy roasted malts - kind of bland very roasted malts, spicy coffee beans, sweetish red berry fruitiness, carbonic acid, very ashy - offensive, booze. moderately low carbonation, medium body - oily and sticky, sweet grassy-spicy-piney-citrusy-ashy finish. sort of blah.

From a bottle in Grand Haven MI. Pours dark brown to black with a thin off white head. Slight roast balanced by nice hoppiness. Very pleasant beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Very good beer, only drawback is the appearance, cloudy and muddy. Otherwise, excellent beer. Nice hop and malt taste. Well balanced.

Rich deep copper and light brown coloured body with a thick, four centimetre tall tan head that leaves quite the ugly lace. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, alcohol, light cardboard and some grassy and herbal hops - not too bittering though. Medium-bodied; Assertive effervescence with a good roasty flavour at first, some lighter nutty and earthy notes and a solid but very short-lived hop bite. Aftertaste shows a hint of earth, some caramel and light sweet notes and a good hop taste filled with pine and flowers. Overall, a decent black IPA that shows more IPA and less roasted notes, but the profile is there - it just isn’t amplified enough. I sampled this stubby twelve ounce bottle purchased from Merchant’s in Dearborn, Michigan on 02-August-2013 for US$2.19 sampled at home in Washington on 19-December-2013.

12oz bottle, thanks to my friend Joelle. Medium tan head atop dark brown body, nice lacing. Aroma is moderately sweet, milk chocolate, some grapefruit, light coffee. Taste is moderately sweet, grapefruit, some roast, light bittersweet chocolate. Medium body, light effervescence.

12 oz. bottle poured into tulip glass. Appearance is dark brown/black color with a huge tan head leaving significant lacing. Aroma is earthy, floral hops and a hint of malts. It smells a lot like a pale ale. Taste is bitter hops and, again, a hint of malt. There is, however, a coffee-like bitterness at the front, but it goes quickly. This isn’t too bad, but I was expecting more malt/roastiness from a black IPA.
