3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
I should enter another beer, as this is bourbon barrel aged. Hoppy and boozy with enough flavor to flat out kill it with flavor. Pretty good brew from an unknown brewery. Awesomeness!

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle:   Muddy brown, moderate frothy sandy head, nice lacing.   Faint roasted malt nose, soft dark chocolate.   Similar on the tongue.   Roasted malts are fairly pale.   Moderate bitterness.   Seems to be of the citrusy kind.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Finishes more of an IPA versus Black IPA.   Decent, but not "Black" enough in my book.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 12/30/2014. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy deep reddish brown color with a 2 finger dense and rocky khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toast, light char, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/pine hops and dark/roasted malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toast, light char, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good sized pine/citrus rind/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon/orange peel, citrus rind, pine, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, light char, and floral/roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Good complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/pine hops and dark/roasted malt flavors; with a solid bitterness/sweetness balance and minimal cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, and resinous/sticky mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a good black IPA. All around good robustness, complexity, and balance of citrus/pine hops and dark/roasted malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. The bitterness is a bit rough on the finish, but not unbearable. A nicely enjoyable offering.

2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
12oz bottle from gimmethefunk, thanks Pat. Poured a lighter density black body with a large frothy super light beige head. Aroma of cellar, dusty chocolate, dark cherry skins, cola, dark toast. Body is huge foam, lighter watery mouthfeel and a lingering burnt aftertaste. Flavor is horrible, sort of like burnt bandaids. Meh if this isn’t infected than these are the worst brewers around.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
From a bottle, new label looks childish compared to old art-deco label. Pour is deep reddish brown to black with a two finger beige head. Aroma is a little hoppy; not very strong. Taste is hoppy at first, with a malty middle and a slightly bitter finish. Overall texture is fairly thick, as expected for a black IPA. A decent brew for the style.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle to half-pint glass (shared with the Mrs.). Looks solid; a translucent dark cola with ample foamy light beige lacing. Smells of dark malt, roast, and bitter hops. Tastes like it smells, but less robust, with an average mouthfeel. Still, a solid Black IPA.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
This IPA poured a deep, dark amber colour with a frothy, tan head. Scents include roasted malt, grassy hops and caramel. First swig had medium/ high carbonation with flavours of Melloids coughdrops, Burnt toast, coffee and spruce hops. Finsh is burnt with a nice hop bitterness lingering.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
pours unclear light brown reddish with a tall frothy light beige head, good retention and lacing. very spicy and spicy roasted malts - kind of bland very roasted malts, spicy coffee beans, sweetish red berry fruitiness, carbonic acid, very ashy - offensive, booze. moderately low carbonation, medium body - oily and sticky, sweet grassy-spicy-piney-citrusy-ashy finish. sort of blah.
