An American Amber Ale brewed with maple syrup and honey to give it a full body and smooth sweetness

Approach with caution. This one will sneak up on you! Brewed to keep us warm in the winter months, but easily enjoyable any time of the year. Syrup and honey give this beer an irresistible sweetness that makes it impossible to have just one. No matter what you pair this one with make sure you get plenty to eat or you might find out how this beer got its name.

Really smooth for 8% but the taste really leaves a lot to be desired. Definitely nothing special

Undated 12 oz bottle from Sicilianos (Grand Rapids; August 2013) served in a snifter. A: pours dark amber-brown color; lightly hazy; very little head despite a vigorous pour, yet traces of foam are quite durable. Not much lacing. Smell: A bit sweet, like a high ABV amber beer, with hints of caramel and old bread. Taste: Starts sweet; ends with a faint hop note added in a bitter/sweet finish. Higher ABV is quite obvious. . Feel: Medium-light body with low carbonation.. Not as much carbonation as I would prefer. Some bite from the alcohol. O: largely an imperial amber, at over 8% ABV, this beer provides the substantial sweet, light- and medium-roast malts of an amber with a high gravity ale.

$2 bottle. Twist-off cap. 050 13 is the presumed date ... so I guess thatíd be about February 19th 2013 bottling date. Poured into a shaker pint. Appearance: Head bubbles away quickly so thereís nothing to speak of there. The beer has a slight haze and a nice dark amber color. Zero lacing. Smell: Malt sweetness and alcohol describes this one adequately. Maybe dark fruits hidden in there in the aroma as well. Taste/feel: Like the smell with a good bit of malt sweetness. A touch of alcohol in the taste, and some warmth. Aftertaste has a slight bitterness to it, and a spicy, roasty, dirty malt quality. The feel is alright. Pretty prickly carbonation, not too thin... not bad. A pretty forgettable, average beer, but itís not bad. My first beer from Mt. Pleasant -- I wasnít expecting much, but it turned out alright. A solid-at-best representation of the style.

Taster on tap at HopCat in East Lansing. Clear amber color. Little slightly off-white head. Good spread of lace. Medium to bigger body. Smooth crisp lighter carbonation, more dry finish. Nice bigger hoppy orange citrus aroma, caramel malts. Big bitter taste, minimal sweet. Bit of metallic. Alright imperial amber ale. Maybe a bit out of balance.

Draft at Lansing beerfest. Amber/brown. Stinky with minimal hops. Kinda don't want to say anything else.

UPDATED: OCT 19, 2013 Pretty smooth strong ale. Not too bitter not too much alcohol taste. Very well balanced. Sipping this one slowly brings out a lot of different flavors.

Bottle. Sour fruity malt aroma. Murky amber with a small off-white head. Nondescript sweet malt, charred toast, and harsh quinine hops flavor. This one is a mess. The flavors donít work together at all.
