4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Big chocolate aroma. Huge coffee flavor. Palate is medium full. Moderate carbonation bite, which compliments the nice body throughout. This is an excellent porter, borderline stout with its body and roastiness.

On tap at The Weed Alehouse / Mt Shasta Brewing, pours a deep dark amber brown with a medium beige head. Nose is restrained, with notes of coffee and roast. Flavour brings out a pleasant mix of coffee and chocolate. Thin body, but nice flavours. Not a bad porter.

Bottle. Pous a dark black brownish pour with a small head. Nose is week chocolate with a hint of alocohol. Taste is much better than the nose, with roasty coffee chocolate notes. Desent flavor, light and drinkable. Finishes on the same chocolate roasted notes. Quaff Score 7 / 10

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
7/13/2011: Shastafarian Porter... Aroma: Chocolate cocoa, vanilla; slight mineral characteristic; rich, high grade espresso. Appearance: Really deep, dark mahogany color, opaque; firm brown head; this is a really attractive porter! Flavor: Wow, really good, complex, and interesting flavor that has held up very well... Smoky chocolate and char, rich roasty and caramelized malts, muted licorice, black tea, soft espresso, chocolate milk finish. Palate: Medium-bodied; good thickness, slightly soft. Overall: This is a REALLY nice brew that has held up fantastic over the years; I’d love to have a few more bottles of this to enjoy; super sessionable porter!

3.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sweet smell and beige head. There’s definitely a caramel and coffee taste at first the it goes in the nutty/vanilla direction in the aftertaste. Tastes lighter than it looks. Not to say it’s light, the color is just a very dark brown. Would be great in cold settings.

Bottle in Cannon Beach. This was a surprisingly good porter. I expected it to be gimmicky but was pleasantly surprised.

Bottle at James’ place for a tasting. Pours a deep ruby caramel brown with a thin white head. Soft roast and cocoa on the nose. Medium bodied, roast and a touch of toast and cocoa. Tasty stuff, nothing crazy.
