3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 brenn79 (920) - Idaho, USA - OCT 28, 2011
12 oz. bottle- Pours dark brown to black with a two finger tan head, aroma is roasted malts with a little spiciness. The flavor is big on the choclolate and smoke, it tastes like a campfire, smoke, smores and all. There is also a sweet candy like flavor in the aftertaste, one of the tastier porters I think I have ever had, not the best, but judged on just taste, this is a winner. Body is a little on the light side and carbonation is medium low.

Bottle. Pours a nice, dark color with light, tan head. Strong, roasted malt aroma. Oats as well. Nice coffee flavor. Milky texture with a hint of cherries. Kind of wish it was thicker.

650mL bottle poured almost black with some red hues when held to a light source. There was about 2 fingers of lasting brown head which left some nice lacing. Aromas of roasted malts and chocolate with a hint of coffee. Taste is malty sweet with some chocolate and coffee and a very mild hoppy bitterness. Very well balanced and worthy of a sampling.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 DuffMan (4417) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - SEP 14, 2011
Bottle. Dark mahogany with a thick creamy light tan head. Aroma is sweet and chocolatey, some raisins and stewed cherries, some roast. Palate initially is more sweet than roasty, a fair bit of caramel and chocolate along with dark cherries and some vanilla. I would swear this has touched a barrel for a while! Not boozy, but there are undertones of rye whiskey here that I cannot ignore. Subtle but definitely there. Nice.

Solid black, thick tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, some hop. Taste is sweet with a mild bitter finish. There is more hop in this beer than I was expecting and less bitter coffee or burnt malt flavor.

Bottle shared by shigadeyo. Poured black color with an average frothy brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy dark chocolate and licorice aroma. Medium to full body with a dry smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy sweet creamy chocolate flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. Solid drinkable brew.

12 oz bottle into English pint. Pours almost black with ruby red highlights when held up to the light. Has a thin beige head that falls too fast, leaving a collar of foam. Aroma is wonderfully strong in coffee and chocolate milk. Taste is lightly sweet with no bitterness; has a nice roasted malt character. Carbonation is average, body is a bit on the thinner side for this style. Delicious porter.
