COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A mild bitterness and a spicy aroma balance this perfect blend of caramel, coffee, and subtle roasted malt flavors. This brew emphasizes smooth, chocolatey goodness. A complex malt body gives this porter its robust character. Hops are present, yet almost untraceable on the foreground of the palate. Beneath a solid head of dark tan, our porter is black in color and highlighted with auburn hues. This brew tastes as deep as it looks and at 6% ABV, is stronger than most in its class. Dedicated to Shastafarians near and far, we salute the mountain that unites and refreshes us all.

Sweet smell and beige head. There’s definitely a caramel and coffee taste at first the it goes in the nutty/vanilla direction in the aftertaste. Tastes lighter than it looks. Not to say it’s light, the color is just a very dark brown. Would be great in cold settings.

Bottle in Cannon Beach. This was a surprisingly good porter. I expected it to be gimmicky but was pleasantly surprised.

Bottle at James’ place for a tasting. Pours a deep ruby caramel brown with a thin white head. Soft roast and cocoa on the nose. Medium bodied, roast and a touch of toast and cocoa. Tasty stuff, nothing crazy.

Bottle at home. Pour is pitch black in appearance with a small tan head that quickly dissipated. Big roast, dark chocolate, grass, earthy hops, vanilla, somewhat smoky and peaty aroma, Taste is graham crackers, ashy, smoky, cocoa nibs, coffee, earthy, and grassy with a big roasted finish. Medium body with high carbonation. Great espresso, chocolate, and roasty notes, although very smoky at times; still very well-balanced and fairly easy drinking. Solid porter, cheer!

Bottle from Pacific Liquor: Appeared as a dark brown porter with a thin development of foam on top. Aroma is mild with a smell of lightly toasted malts with hints of chocolate and a faint background of soap. The drink is bland with a minimal amount of slightly roasted malts that barely give off enough flavors to grab my attention. Finish taste a little lactic or creamy. Boring porter to say the least.

Twelve ounce bottle from CDA. Pours pitch black, with a light tan head. Aroma is sweet and malty. Taste is typical of porters; coffee, malt, and maybe a hint of chocolate. Thumbs up. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
