COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The second Lager in our line –up, Black Cockatoo is modeled on the Schwarzbiers (black lagers) of Germany. A deep ruby black colour this beer displays all the classic traits of its style. The aroma is a delicate balance of roasted malt and noble hops whilst in the mouth it shows a delicate bitterness that holds in check malt flavours of caramel and chocolate. Black Cockatoo is a light-medium bodied beer and is very good match with grilled lamb, roasted pork or spicy rice dishes.

Loads of chocolate and roast on the nose, and surprisingly for a sub 5% beer this translates well to the mouth, at least early, but the weight does tail off. With a bit of reflection serviceable rather than anything special.

(15-Nov-13) Light medium roast malt aroma. Black colour, ok head and suds lacing. Sour plum, light malt flavour. Sour plum and slight steel finish and tangy light roast malt aftertaste.

On tap at MT Tamborine Brewery. Pours black with tan head that fades. Aroma of coffee. Burnt coffee bitter acidic. Light flavour but leaves burnt toast taste in mouth.

UPDATED: JUL 30, 2012 On tap at MT Brewery on 25/7/12. An opaque black colour with a thin beige coloured head that laced reasonably well. Aromas dominated by roasted grain but with a hint of coffee. Taste of roasted grain. Full body beer. Short slightly bitter finish.

Bottle from the Brewery. Black in colour, with a creamy white head that disappears quickly. Hints of coffee malt aromas and tastes. Was expecting a bit more flavour, but a decent beer.

Pours black with creamy reddish brown head. Nice coffee flavours on the nose and palate. Nice caramel flavours too. Worth a try but go for the st Bridget if you’re only able to have one MT beer.

On tap at MT. Nice & black with a decent head. Nice aromas of roasted malts & hops. Tasty malt flavours, choc & caramel, balanced towards the malt, the hops take a back seat. Smooth finish. Really enjoyed this beer.

Dark ruby and a thick tan head that look appealing. Aromas of roasted malt, dark chocolate and hops. Sweet and light mouthfeel. Quite a pleasing balance of hops & malts in this one. Good stuff.

Quite dark and malt heavy. this is a good, easy drinking schwarz that never outstays it’s welcome.
