COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Zuster Agatha is a dark beer with 10% ABV. Brewed according to the Trappist traditions and only natural ingredients. Althoug these types of beer a normally named after male chatholics the brewer still decided to name it after Sister Agatha. It’s a beer to enjoy in peace and quite. It has a complex aroma with fruit, raisins and roasted malts. It’s full and solid with a surprisingly dry finish. It invites you to take another sip. Please be careful with this high alcoholic beer as the strenght might attack you by surprise. Brewed for and with the recipe of de Muifel Brouwerij (http://www.muifelbrouwerij.nl/).

Aroma is kruidig, rozijnen en donker fruit. Smaak is krenten, kruidig, peperig en zoutig, maar body is verassend licht. Afdronk is met roggebrood, die inderdaad droog is. Licht rokerig bitter in de nasmaak. Kraag zakt snel. Het bier groeit niet tijdens drinken.

Bottled@chriso. Reddish amber colour, beige head. Aroma is mild toasted malts, toffee, caramel, some yeasty notes as well as mild alcohol. Flavour is fruity, floral, caramelly, yeasty, some ripe fruitys and toffee. Mild spices as well as it gets warmer. Hides the abv rather well in the flavour.

Bruinrood, flinke kraag die inzakt tot een laagje op het bier. Ruikt zoetmoutig en wat naar zoet fruit. Medium body, smaakt zoetig maar ik haal er niks specifieks uit. Niks bijzonders.

Dark brown color. 3 fingers of off-white foam. Aroma is complex: roasted malt, apricot, prugne, raisin, spiciness and earthiness. Tastes is a challenging between sweetness and bitterness: caramel, spiciness, bitter chocolate(!), cacao, dried fruits, and yeast. After tasting is what get me impressed more. Very long spicy presence. Overall is a good quadrupel. It could stand up against a trappist like Rochefort with its all strength and complexity, but at the end, there is something missing here behind the spiciness and high abv. I like it, but I could do without it.

The head is ok, the body dark red. It smells very sweet, a bit fruity, flowery, sweet-sour. Interesting and ok. 12/10/11/10/12/11

A powerful quad. Alcohol front and center. Maybe a bit too much. Dark brown appearance, medium body, and caramel and brown sugar sweetness. Tried with Erol, Paul and Dave at the openingsfestival of the Dutch beer week in the Hague.

UPDATED: MAY 8, 2012 Mahogany brown body with creamy beige head. Fermented fruit, twigs raisins, berk, dark hops. Fragrant and nice. Very soft, smooth body that empowers the toasty base and dark sweetness. Light sticky body. Interesting dusty, woody character makes this different from the well known Belgian quads. Spicy aftertaste. Interesting brew. I quite like it. (33cl bottle, cheap)
