COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Zuster Agatha is a dark beer with 10% ABV. Brewed according to the Trappist traditions and only natural ingredients. Althoug these types of beer a normally named after male chatholics the brewer still decided to name it after Sister Agatha. It’s a beer to enjoy in peace and quite. It has a complex aroma with fruit, raisins and roasted malts. It’s full and solid with a surprisingly dry finish. It invites you to take another sip. Please be careful with this high alcoholic beer as the strenght might attack you by surprise. Brewed for and with the recipe of de Muifel Brouwerij (http://www.muifelbrouwerij.nl/).

UPDATED: MAY 8, 2012 Mahogany brown body with creamy beige head. Fermented fruit, twigs raisins, berk, dark hops. Fragrant and nice. Very soft, smooth body that empowers the toasty base and dark sweetness. Light sticky body. Interesting dusty, woody character makes this different from the well known Belgian quads. Spicy aftertaste. Interesting brew. I quite like it. (33cl bottle, cheap)

33cL bottle consumed at ‘t Arendsnest on my Amsterdam trip in October 2011. Poured with a large head into a large wine glass. It slowly fades into a surface covering lacing. Good lacing on glass as well. Cololr of the body is a clear reddish dark brown. Aroma is sweet prune and alcohol with chocolatey liquor. Flavor is a bit watery with water chocolate liquor and present alcohol. The thinned out alcohol sits around a bit on the palate. Sediment at the bottom of the bottle.
Bottom line: a thinner quad with present alcohol and chocolate.

Dark brown beer, head is ok, but colapses to just a small lace a bit to soon. Sticks good to the glass tough. Herbal smell, sweet caramel, dark fruits and malts. Mostly sweet at the taste, fruity, raisings, roastiness. Not bad, with a good dry-earhtyness. The herbal touch gets a bit overpowered by the sweetness. Not bad, but nothing to get excited. Misses a bit of a boost at the taste, and the mouthfeel.

Bottled. The aroma has sugar, toffee and caramel maltiness. Dark brown coloured beer with an off-white head. The taste is sweet, has caramel, some chocolate, yeast, some spice. Has a carbonated mouthfeel.

Bottle: Big light brown head on top of a deep dark amber brown colored beer. Smell sweets, popcorn, toasted malts, brown sugars and some spices like cinnamon. Taste is a wonderfull mix of toasted malts, sticky malts, light but good medicinal, dark fruits like raisin, prunes, nice soft smooth bitter touch, some brown sugars, barleys, molasses. All well balanced. Dark fruit sweet sticky malty well balanced aftertaste. Low carbo, full body, soft mouthfeel and a light sticky texture. Good brew! Hope they will barrel age this beer in the future.

Bottle from ABCBeers, The Hague. Dark ruby red colour, with an off white head that leaves really quickly, leaving a little ring on top. Aroma has wine, roast, dough and some alcohol. Flavour is a bit sweet, like candi sugar, finished dry and a bit bitter, making it a bit different than other quadrupels i’ve had. I could notice some darker fruits in the flavour, like vigs and blackberries.

Pretty strong beer this one. A bit sweet (like a lot of Belgian beers) but not too much.

Headless, clear black... spicey aroma, bit alchoholic, sour malts... taste is sweet ’n sour, not that complex at all, some spices in the finish make it nice though... medium bodied simple quad, wouldn’t order it again

Bottle. [thanks Jos & Cees]
Deep lovely ruby-red with a nice, creamy, yellowish head. Aroma is sweet, Belgian sugar, light liqourice, caramel and figs. Light carbonation, fine creamy and fat palate. Sweet flavour, Belgian sugar, liqorice, vinous, caramel. Fine dry and malty bitter finish. Quite nice.

Clear dark brown beer, light reveals a dark amber hue. Yellowish head. Aroma of malts, lots of caramel, some liquorice (trekdrop), and prominent alcohol. Sweet flavour, slightly bitter, caramel, malts, slight liquorice, rather thin for a quadrupel. Nice finish, dry and bitter with some alcohol warmth. (From 30cL bottle)
