Nice attempt from a beer company I do not like. They are however striving for a better beer and I can totally respect that. Not Bad

UPDATED: MAR 17, 2008 Had this beer at the Howard Johnsons in the bar thought this was a very good draft. Smelled of choclate not bitter after taste. A very good beer from the tap.

Sessionable and inoffensive stout that wonít blow anyoneís mind. The waiter at the restaurant told me this was a new dark lager from a microbrewery in St. Louis. Those people are going to hear a few words from me, if I ever go back there. Interestingly, it does taste like a reasonable dark lager. The fact that itís actually a stout is funny. Iíll do my best to forget the style and the megabrewery and rate it based on my impressions at the time. It was served too cold, which I mention because the kind of places that serve this to you are likely to do the same. Looks fairly nice, though... pours black with a frothy and reasonably lasting tan head. Aroma, even when warm, was a faint, roasty malt. Flavor brings a very light bitterness with roasted coffee notes. Not much aftertaste of which to speak. Thin MF with average carbonation. Goes down extremely easy. A dark, inoffensive quencher from A-B. Not bad, just boring.

This is a very good draft for itís type. I enjoyed more than turbo dog which is near identical. Surprisingly goes down good with wings. I agree that A-B label kills itís ratings but itís one of their better creations.

Pours nice brown, foamy, head. Smells of oats, chocalate, and yeast. Tastes smooth, and, umm, oaty. If you are looking for a dry stout, like Guiness, keep looking. This isnít it. If you like a smooth, oaty, this is a good beer. Funny, but, Iíd bet my last dollar ( or Aventinus ), that if these rater did not know it was an AB product, the ratings would be much higher.

Draft 6 oz glass at the A-B tour in St Louis. Black like a stout but little to no head and little body. My wifeís simple assessment: "Dark water." Mother-in-law: "No flavor." I think I mightíve picked up a bit of licorice, but otherwise this doesnít break out of the Anheuser mold of bland beers. (#3023, 7/15/2007)

Stl microfest. Pour is a dark red with a small tan head. Aroma is super faint with some roasted malts and a hint of chocolate. Flavor is super watery and flavorless. About as good as a pale lager. Nothing going on with this one. Way to crap on our state mascot.
