Sample at Pint Room Littleton. This brew pours a clear reddish-brown color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily to an outer ring. Small patches of lacing. Aroma of malt, fruit and spice. Medium body with flavors of earthy malt, fruit, hops and a bit of herbal honey. The finish is sweet with a malty aftertaste. Decent overall.

Sample at the Estes Park Winter Festival. Muddy brown, with a beige ring. Bark, molasses, pine, and toffee. Sweet and sticky, with a smooth bitterness. Heavy body, creamy, and thick. This is a big, malty and hoppy mess, but quite tasty.

On tap at Colorado Plus poured a clear dark reddish brown with a small lingering tan head. Aromas of toffee, earthiness and light spice. Palate was light bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of toffee, earthiness, light tobacco and a hint of fruiotiness with a smooth dry lingering toffee finish.

On tap at Mayor of Old Town. Appearance: small white head, brownish copper color, great lacing, cloudy a bit. Aroma: fruit, malt, alcohol, caramel, light citrus. Palate: medium-full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation, long finish. Taste: very sweet with a light tartness on the end and just a bit of hoppy bitterness interspersed. Overall, enjoyable, but not really memorable. Something worth trying.

At Avery Strong Ale Fest 2013. --clear brownish ruby with a thin off-cream head. Aroma had some strong oak chip and earthy aroma with some earthy malt and herbs. Flavor is pretty malty with earthy toffee and sweet wildflower honey flavors, with some oak and drying yeast tone I couldn’t put my finger on.

Very dark pour with a tan head. Aroma of honey and tropical fruit. Roasted malts hit the mouth first with a nice honey linger. This is a great strong ale and the brewery continues to impress.
